What is The Islamic/Hijri Calendar?

The Islamic calendar is based on lunar months, which begin when a thin new crescent Moon is actually sighted in the western sky after sunset within a day or so after the New Moon. Hence, the month is either 29 days or 30 days.

There are 12 months in an Islamic year, which is either 354 days long or 355 days long, compared to (Gregorian) civil calendar year of 365 or 366 days. Since the Islamic Lunar year has 12 lunar months, it is on an average, 11 days shorter than the (Gregorian) civil year, the Islamic year shifts earlier in each civil year by about 11 days.

The event is acting as an intermediary for people who are seeking marriage partners. The setting is very much open to all individuals to speak with each other. However, we will have advisors that will support individuals who feel shy or need an intermediary between their discussions. Inshallah we will also be supporting women who feel they need to be in a segregated environment.

The age group that has currently shown a high interest in coming to the event has been between 21-46.

There are less than 7 days remaining until the next general elections in the UK.

Muslims have had a tradition of taking part in political events for the greater good of society since before the hijrah - the Muslims who kigrated to Abysinnia took part in local events and sided with the king when there were attempts to remove him from power.

As muslims we must stand on the side of truth and justice - this means we shouldnt just vote for an individual because he may be from our ethnicity or even claim to be Muslim.
