Helping Households Under Great Stress (HHUGS) expresses its heartfelt sympathies to the families of the five men whose appeals were rejected at the European Court of Human Rights on the 25th September 2012. What now awaits the men and their families is further uncertainty and anxiety. The families have already suffered an ordeal throughout this long and protracted legal process, which has caused much distress and anxiety. The most senior judge in England and Wales, told reporters that any case taking eight years (or more) was [I]"not fair to anybody - it's not right."[/I]

The cases of Babar Ahmad and Talha Ahsan are currently being heard before the High Court. Their lawyers are seeking a judicial review of the CPS decision refusing to allow the private prosecution to proceed.
The verdict is expected on this Friday morning.
If the judge rules against them, there will be no further appeal and their extradition to the US is likely to take immediate effect.
