Darth V-Hayderit is stated that the prophets number about 124,000, and the prophet-messengers are twenty-five.

Abi Dharr al-Ghifari (RA)... asked, "Oh Messenger of Allah, how many are there messengers?" He said "310 and a few more".

And in another narration of Imam Ahmed, from the narration of Abi Umaama, Abu Dharr asked, "Oh Messenger of Allah, how many are there prophets?" He said, "120,000 and between them 315 messengers."

Though I am no Einstein, still I was good at mathematics.

I particularly liked addition and multiplication. It feels so nice to be able to add things. Two and two always made four.

However, today I have a problem.

Somehow, I cant add the numbers given above by Darth and get 124000.

'Iqra', not 'Iqba'. 'Iqra' means 'read'

God gave Muhammad his books in an order, I wouldn't think even Muhammad could be allowed to change that order without God telling him he could.

The quran was revealed as needed.

If a situation arose, a verse(s) regarding to it would be revealed.

The Prophet would clarify where they fit.

The significance of the first argument can be realised if we consider the answers to the questions:

1. Why should the Qur'an be compiled in chronological order? What is the particular significance of chronological compilation apart from the information of the order of revelation?

2. The same argument is applied to the question of compilation order by length of Surah.

The second argument being that the author of the Book - Allah Almighty - instructed His Messenger to compile it in the order it is.

Just as Allah Almighty revealed the various ayaat to His Messenger (S), He also revealed the position of each ayah/Surah to His Messenger (S). for example when a particular ayah was revealed to Rasulollah (S) – on a certain occasion – Archangel Gabriel also told Rasulollah (S) “The Almighty instructs you to place it (the ayah) as number 280 of Surah of The Cow. Such reports clearly indicate that even the order and the structure of the Holy Qur’an was dictated by Allah Almighty Exalted be He."

Was there ever a reason provided why they were revealed out of order?

They were revealed as needed.

In answer to events.

The quran was not revealed as a big book all in one go.

Neither in a way that it was irrelevant.

And there is also the fact that making a society takes time.

Take alcohol.

First there was a verse saying alcohol was disliked.

Then another saying do not approach prayer when drunk.

Finally when the community was acclimatised, the final order forbidding the consumption of alcohol, saying there was more harm than good in it.
