Means one who is wise, noted for his wisdom/knowledge. Also means stormy. Name is mentioned in the Quran in Surah al Anbiya I believe.

This is surprisingly true as everyone seems to think I have the answer to all their questions (which I generally do) and give advice.

aint u humble

grantied noone should shout abuse, but does it really make a diference if a person is called Muhammad?

Afterall we only offer salutations when the person referred to is the Prophet (saw), not anyone called muhammad?

I cannot see a fathomable reason for a special case?

Duz one beleive that naming a child, can determine the character of that child?

Ive oft heard Elders sayin, "so and so is called such n such, no wonder he/she is a hot head"? Upon further questioning, many membes of the elder generation beleive that it is possible that a child's name can hav a direct affect on its behviour.

Also, ive heard elders say, that wen a child is born, it is Indo-pak tradition to giv the child summin sweet (dno if any other nation has such a tradition), and they say that the child may hav a similar character as the person giving the child the sweet.

To me, this seems kinda strange, n i find myself studyin the character of 2 people of the same name, whom i know.

So far, i kno 2 people with the same name as me. And, they are both easy going, and not too shy, and will talk to people and get to know people pretty quik, which is a similar character trait i feel i possess. (they both popular round ladies too, as i am Wink lol)

But, then my mum n my auntie hav the same name, n they do not hav similar characters at all. My auntie is more reserved, n selective whom she talks to, n lets close to her, n my mum is real chilled out, n seems to make friends at will. She'll hav known sum1 for 2 days, n she's on the phone with em talkin for an hour or so.

Wats ya thoughts?

Somehow I get the impression that people with the same names share many character traits.

Originally I used to just brush it off as a coincidence.

As an example I think people called Sharaz are pretty easily excitable.

But it may just be our minds playing tricks on us, making links where there are none.

.

I know quite a few people who share one name and all of them share the same negative characteristic, because of this reason I would never name my children such a name...even if it had a good meaning and sounded pretty.

I think you two are getting superstitious.

As an example every single Omrow I know has a warped sense of humour...

Its that a coincidence?

I think not.

(fair enough, I only know one...)

Good try. Well done. You get a sticker for that. Put it on your XXL coat.

i'm not saying the meaning of my name aherm i wish to keep my name a secret. But it's also the name of a sahabiya, not any of the wives of the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) Wink

Did you know that we can keep certain pre Islamic names coz some of the sahabah for example had such names and our prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) only changed their names if they had bad meanings, otherwise they remained the same.

Maybe you guys don't know this but bengalis often keep rhyming names for their kids. Don't ask me how this silly trend began. Twins or not most siblings in bengali houses have names that rhyme or use alliteration.

i.e shumi and rumi, burhan and ruhan, halimah and lilymah, you want me to carry on? Lol

My brothers names all end in "ul Islam". They have good meanings at the very least.

i wudnt name any of my kids after my enemy-even if it was a pretty name

cos then each time I'd call him/her it'd remind me of my enemy

and maybe psycologically i might start hating my kid cos he/she reminds me of my enemy too

Be more positive, you could end up liking your enemies. Biggrin

Wow twins are a novelty, I wish I was someone's twin.

You need to start thinking of some "twin" names...

Good luck. You do need it.

Especially if they turn out the be the hyperactive cheeky type of kids.

One a second note, if they are identical, do you think you will tell the diference?

She's only a little more than a month in. They are able to determine twins very early on if they are fraternal (which ours will most likely be) since the seperation occurs at the cellular stage. We won't know genders for a while yet.

I'd like a boy and a girl.

I'm concerned though, the doctor warned us (before we knew it was twins) that Annette is in danger because she is so small.

What do you mean you don't yet know the gender of the babies.

You guys have reached the moon; and you are telling me that you can't see whats inside a woman !!

God !

You might as well name the twins: Armstrong and Weaklegs.

Postpone.

I think what the furbal meant to ask was whether the lady doctor will take a break from her job for some length of time.
