"Chinese-made Qur'ans full of errors"

TPOS —

Iranian publishers are complaining that cost-saving plans to print Qur'ans in China have led to an embarrassing number of typographical errors.

The head of Iran's Qur'an oversight office, Ahmad Haji-Sharif, warned consumers that lower-cost Qur'ans may have mistakes in the holy verses. He noted earlier this week that Iranian-produced Qur'ans carry a higher price but have passed a careful inspection.

Officials are now discussing a ban on Chinese-printed Qur'ans.

The Qur'ans in Iran often have both Farsi and the original Arabic. Haji-Sharif didn't say whether the errors prevail in the Arabic or Farsi segments.

Lollywood Movie Bol (Speak)

lollywood —

Image

This movie has raised quite a few eye brows because it tackles subjects which are considered taboo in Pakistan or Muslims societies

Here are few of the things the movie looks at

Taking responsibility for your actions in this case the action is child birth people having lots of children just for the sake of it and then not being ab;r to feed them as we believe that its “gods will” that you will have so and so number of sons and daughters

Pakistani are disappointed when there wife gives birth to girls
if there are 3 girls born one after the other then the man would marry another women thinking this wife may not be able to give birth to boys

in my view boys are given wealth and property to look after and pass on girls are not owned in the way boys are maybe its because the girl has to marry and go to someones else’s home?

It looks a little bit at believing in God one of lines in this movie is Agar khila nahin Sakta To Paida Kyoon Karte Ho in English it means if you cant feed them then why do you bring them into this world- now the question is is the director aiming this dialogue at God or us human beings? In my view it could be taken both ways

It also shows a male disabled child who wants to be just like his sisters he wants to dress up and wear the cloths his sisters wear

Everyone should watch this movie on DVD I'm sure it will have English subtitles so no excuse that we don't understand Urdu

Du'a - The weapon of the believer: PART 11

Bilan —

Salaam! 😃

September 1st - Chapter 7: The Recommended Times for Du'a continued

If you want to recap : Part 10

9. Du'a Before the End of Salat

After a person has finished his tashahhud, and before he actually says salam, he should supplicate with any du'a that he likes, as this is one of the times of response.

Ibn Mas'ud narrates: "I was once praying, and the prophet(saw) Abu-Bakr and Umar (were all present). When I sat down (in the final tashahhud) I praised Allah, then sent salams on the prophet(saw) then started praying for myself. At this, the prophet(saw) said: 'Ask and you shall be given it! Ask, and you shall be given it!'"

10. Du'a After the Salat

Abu Umamah al-Bahili asked the prophet(saw) "O Messenger of Allah! Which du'a is the most likely to be responded to?" The prophet(saw) replied: "In the last part of the night, and after the obligatory prayers"

11. Du'a When the Armies meet

12. An Hour on Friday

The following hadith is mentioned: "Friday has twelve hours (or parts to it). There is one hour during which if a muslim asks Allah anything, Allah will give it to him, so find it during the last hour after Asr."

There are numerous opinions as to the exact hour but the above is the opinion of the vast majority of early scholars and also of the prophet's ﷺ Companions - that this hour occurs after Asr prayer, right before sunset.

13. When Waking at Night

When a person wakes up in the middle of the night, only to go back to sleep again, if he remembers Allah at this time, his du'a will be accepted

The prophet(saw) stated: "Whoever wakes up at night and says 'La ilaha illa Allah Wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulk wa lahul hamd wa huwa 'ala kulli shay in Qadir. Alhamdu lillah, wa Subhan Allah, wa la illaha illa Allah, wa Allahu akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa bil Allah' and then says 'O Allah, forgive me! or makes a du'a then he will be responded to. And if he performs wudu and prays, then his prayer will be accepted."

14. After Performing Wudu

The prophet(saw) said: "There is no one amongst you that makes wudu, and does so perfectly, and then says 'I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. He is alone, having no partners. And I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger' except that all eight doors of Paradise are opened for him, and he can enter into it through whichever one he pleases."

15. Before Drinking Zam Zam

The prophet(saw) said: "The water of Zam Zam is for whatever it has been drunk for" meaning that whatever du'a you make before drinking Zam Zam, it will be given to you.

16. Du'a During Ramadan

17. Du'a on 'The Night of Decree'

18. Du'a Inside the Ka'bah

For those unable to get inside the Ka'bah know then that the hijr (the semi-circle attachement that is opposite the Yemeni-corner and Black stone wall) is actually a part of the Ka'bah and prayer inside the hijr is exactly the same as praying inside the physical structure of the Ka'bah. The original Ka'bah built by Ibrahim(as) was a rectangle, and its foundations included the area that is now the hijr. The only reason the hijr is not included in the present structure is because the Quraysh when re-building the Ka'bah, ran out of materials to complete its original structure

19. Du'a at Safa and Marwa

20. Du'a After Stoning the Jamarat

It is narrated that the prophet(saw) would stone the small Jamarah (one of the three pillars that is stones in the last three days of Hajj), then face the qiblah, raise his hands, and make du'a for a long time. He would then stone the midlle Jamarah and do the same. When he stoned the large Jamarah, he would depart without making any du'a

21. Du'a on the Day of 'Arafah

Although du'a during the entire Hajj is a great act of worship, du'a on this day is even of greater importance. The Day of 'Arafah is the essence and pinnacle of Hajj - during which Allah does not refuse the requests of his worshippers.

22. The First Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah

The prophet(saw) stated: "There are no days during which good deeds are more beloved to Allah than during these ten days."

23. While Visiting the Sick

Umm Salamah narrated that the prophet(saw) said: "When you visit the sick, or the dead (body before its burial) then say good because the Angels say Amin to whatever you say."

24. When the Soul of a Person is Taken

Same hadith as for above(23). Whenever a person is in the presence of one who is about to die, he should pray to Allah for all that is good, for the dying person, his family, and for himself

25. When Rain Falls

The prophet(saw) said: "Two are the du'as that are never returned: the du'a when the prayer is being called, and that at the time of rainfall."

26. Before Duhr

The prophet(saw) would pray four raka'ahs before Duhr and he said: "This is an hour during which the gates of the skies are opened, and I like that some of my good acts are raised up (at this time)

27. At the Crowing of a Rooster

Next Chapter up inshAllah: Chapter 8 - Conditions during which du'as are answered. Stay tuned 😉

Claiming state benefits in Britain is HARAM.

knightsbridge_… —

I say that the above statement is true because the Quran has stated that we must pay taxes (this is a Jizya because we are a minority living in a majority country). On the other hand, claiming benefits is not stated as being permissible and is not part of the Sharia, likely because it forms part of a secular system which not based on collection/distribution of Zakat. The taxes which we pay (those who do) are used for the schools which our children attend and the hospitals which we use when we are ill. On the other hand, money for the payment of state benefits should be seen as having Riba (usuary) origins because financial services (Banks & insurance co's) generate more tax revenue for the UK government than any other industry in Britain. Therefore, when we are taking money we have not worked for which is exactly the same as taking interest.

We are not "automatically entitled" to any money from this government because in order to receive benefits, we have to apply (requestfully beg) for these hand-outs from non-Muslim administrators. To which the Quran states:'Abdullah Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: The man who always begs will meet Allah with no flesh left on his face.'

Some people will not like what I have said because I am questioning their entitlement Nafs and the very reason they live in this country (do they live here to give dawah or to leach from the state?). The Molvi sahibs and community leaders are shy to bring this topic up because in many cases they depend on hand-outs from the government. Shouldn't these leaders be paid Zakat or financial support from our own Muslim community, instead of having to claim money which they have not paid, or worked for, which has interest origins?

I need your thoughts on these issues, if there is hardly any response then I will assume that my theory is correct and that all Muslim people who claim benefits (like income support or Job Seekers) are taking haram money.

University staff asked to inform on 'vulnerable' Muslim students

You —

University staff including lecturers, chaplains and porters are being asked to inform the police about Muslim students who are depressed or isolated under new guidance for countering Islamist radicalism.

The move has resulted in deep discomfort among university lecturers and student union officials who wish to combat terrorism but say the new strategy is an infringement of students' civil liberties.

New Rules For Women Considering Abortion

lollywood —

The Department of Health is to announce plans for a new system of independent counselling for women before they finally commit to terminating a pregnancy.

Pro-life campaigners suggest the change, designed to give women more "breathing space", could result in up to 60,000 fewer abortions each year in Britain.

Last year, 202,400 were carried out.

Eid and zakaatul Fitr - general info

LookingToSee —

Sunnahs of 'Eed

1) It is Sunnah to dress in the best clothes we have on Eed. It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar radiyAllahu anhu used to do that along with other Companions of the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam. [Fath al-Baaree]

2) It is a must (Waajib) to pray Eed al-Fitr Prayer. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam and his Companions never ceased doing it, and they even gathered the people for it including women who were having their menses, children and the elderly. [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

3) It is Sunnah to eat dates before we leave for Eed prayer to show that we are not fasting. " The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam used not to leave for Eed Prayer (except) after eating some dates." [Bukhaaree and Ahmad]

4) It is Sunnah to say Takbeer loudly when leaving our homes to go to Eed Prayer. The Prophet used to say this until he finished the Prayer. [Silsilat Al-ahadeeth As-Sunnah]

5) There is no Hadeeth related to Rasoolullaah sallalahu alayhi wa sallam as to what should be said when reciting
Takbeer on the way to Prayer, but Ibn Mas'ood used to say the following:
Allaahu Akbar (Twice) Allaah is great
Laa Illaha Illallaaha There is none worthy of worship except Allaah
Allaahu Akbar (Twice) Allaah is great
Wa Lillaahil Hamd And to Him belongs all Praise
[Reported by Ibn Abee Shaybah]

6) The Sunnah for Eed Prayers is to pray in the Musallah (that is in an uncovered place) and not in the Masjid. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam never prayed Eed Prayer in the Masjid. Aboo Sa'eed radiyAllahu anahu reported:
" The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam used to go on the day of 'Eed-al-Fitr and Eed-al-Adhaa to the Musallah, and the first thing he did was to pray." [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

7) Neither Adhaan nor Iqaamah are pronounced for Eed Prayer. [Muslim]

8 ) Ibn Abbaas reported: "The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam prayed two Raka'ahs for the Eed prayer and did not pray before it or after it." [Bukhaaree]

9) Jabir radiyAllahu anhu reported: "The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam used to come back from 'Eed-al-Fitr on a path other than the one used in going to it." [Bukhaaree]

10) It is permitted to listen to songs (without music) on 'Eed day especially for children. [Bukhaaree and Muslim]

Bid'ahs of 'Eed

1) To shave the beards especially for 'Eed. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam has ordered us not to shave our beards; so it is a shame that, on this great day of demonstrating our differences in ceremonies to those of the Mushriks, that some Muslim shaves his beard so that he looks "clean" like the Mushriks.

2) To imitate the Mushriks in their practices and dress, and to shake hands with women. The
Prophet said: "It is better that a man is hit with needle on his head than to touch a woman who is not lawful for him." [Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth as-Sunnah]

3) To listen to music on 'Eed. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam said:"There will be some in my nation who will regard adultery, men dressing in silk, drinking intoxicants (al-Khamr), and musical instruments to be lawful." [Bukhaaree, Abu Dawood and Bayhaqee]

4) For women not to wear Hijaab. To do so is to celebrate 'Eed while committing a major sin.

5) To visit the graveyard especially on Eed. It is permitted to visit the graveyard all year long so we should not make a special case out of it on 'Eed.

6) To waste money and being extravagant with food instead of giving them to poor.

We ask Allaah subhanahu wa ta'ala to help us avoid all Bid'ah and to guide us in following the Sunnah of His Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam, aameen.

Zakatul-Fitr - How to pay

Ramadaan, the 9th month of the hijree calendar, is well known for (1) Siyaam (abstaining from
food, drink, and sex ; paying extra-attention to refraining from lying, backbiting, slander, vain talk,
fighting that is not for the cause of Allah, etc; and for abstinence from such things as smoking,
music, movies, unnecessary television, cursing etc. from dawn to dusk and (2) Taraweeh: a
replacement for tahajjud of multiple two-rakaat prayers that do not excceed a total of eight
rakaats.

However, besides practicing more Taqwaa (Allaah-consciousness) not enjoying certain amenities
of life for several hours, and being vigilant there are other acts of worship particular to Ramadaan.
Most notably is Zakaat ul-Fitr, also called Sadaqah al-Fitr. Fitr means breaking a fast; zakaah is
an alms-tax which literally means to purify, to grow; and sadaqah means contribution or donation.
Zakaat ul-Fitr is compulsory to be paid on every Muslim.

Who should pay Zakaat ul-Fitr?

Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah prescribed the Zakaat ul-Fitr on every slave, free
person, male, female, young and elderly among the Muslims [Bukhaaree Vol I no.579. Muslim no.
2149, Abu Daawood no. 1608]. The head of the house hold may give the required amount for
ones house. Sadaqah al-Fitr is compulsory on one even if he or she embraced Islam in the last
seconds of Ramadaan.
The same applies if a woman gives birth. Conversely, If someone dies before the close of
Ramadaan his or her heirs are excused from paying for the deceased.

When should it be paid?

Zakaat ul-Fitr must be paid before Salaat ul-Eed. If one misses paying it before the prayer without
a good reason it is not considered Zakaah but Sadaqa (charity).
Naafi' transmitted that Ibn Umar used to pay fitr a day or two before the Eed prayer [Bukhaaree &
Muslim, Abu Daawood]. Whoever pays fitr after the Eed prayer wlll not get the blessings of it
because it will be rendered as regular Sadaqah [see Abu Daawood no. 1605]
It would be strongly advisable for one to pay Zakaah ul-Fitr before the prayer because it purifies
the faster of idle deeds and vain talk committed during Ramadaan [Abu Daawood no. 1605] as
well as providing its recipients in time for the Islamic holiday.

What is its amount?

The amount of Zakaat ul-Fitr is one saa (two handfuls/kilo/40 grams/4.5 lbs/112 oz/beaker of
dates, barley, raisins, cheese, grain of wheat [see Muslim no.2151 & 2154]. Some scholars say
any topic of food that is common in a particular region can be given for fitr, e.g. flour, ground beef,
or milk in the United States.

How should it be given?

Items other than food such as money, clothes, furniture, etc. cannot be given as Zakat al-fitr.
because it is contrary to what the Prophet commanded and what Allah wants.
The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam said, "Whoever introduces anything in this matter (deen) of ours will have it rejected." [Bukhaaree
Vol 3 no. 861. Muslim no.4266, Abu Daawood no.4589]
Paying Zakaat ul-Fitr is an act of worship, and through the Quran and authentic Sunnah all acts of
worship are described. Therefore, to add, subtract, or alter any act of worship is a bida'h. Thus,
paying zakaah al-fitr by other than food is a bida'h and every bid'ah eventually leads to the fire
[see Abu Daawood no. 4590].

Not giving money for fitr is as Sunnah at-Turkeeyah (An action, the abandonment of which is a
Prophetic Sunnah). Money existed and was prevalent in the Prophet's time but he did not nor did
the Companions or Taabi'oon (followers of the Companions) use any money for Fitr. For sure the
Prophet sallalahu alayhi wa sallam was, is, and always will be the best of worshippers and the Companions and
Taabi'oon are the best of generations in understanding and practicing Islaam [See Soorah's
4:115 and 3:110, Bukhaaree Vol 3 and 5, Abu Daawood no.4586].
