To Shake Or Not To Shake

Salaam

Today I had a job interview with a teaching agency in central London; this is supposedly the best teaching agency in London, I was impressed and overwhelmed by the professionalism in that company and was desperate to make a good impression…

The guy who was interviewing me introduced himself and extended his arm out, I stood there thinking to myself “Shall I explain to him that I can’t shake hands with a non Mahram or should I pretend I didn’t notice his hand”.

Free Mixing in Islam

Salaam Alykum,
i understand that free mixing is haraam in islam and women and men are not allowed to be in the same company of each other unless there is a good reason behind it, however are we allowed to email, text or talk to non-mehram like on msn? because that won't be free mixing as where not in the company of males.

Big Babies

Salaam

Many people in the Asian Community lead VERY sheltered lives.

My twelve year old neighbour gets spoon fed by his mum every night, whilst he reclines on the pillow watching Telly…in fact even my 30-40year old uncle’s still sometimes get spoon fed by their mum.

What are the implications of babying your grown children?

If anything, don’t people start to take liberties? Who wouldn’t want to be waited on hand and foot?

And doesnt this result in the self-fulfilling prophecy? You know, treat someone like a baby and they'll begin to act like a baby?

Just Blame Islam

Salaam

Often, when someone who is religious minded or active in Islam, gets into disputes or disagreements or does something wrong….people are quick to retaliate by saying “is this what your books/teacher or mosque teaches you”

Why is that?

There are 101 reasons why people argue or make mistakes in life…it could be cos of external influences such as society, media, friends or even their own selves, so why blame Islam first?

Is this because secretly some people hold a grudge or hostility against Islam, which they’d never admit out loud?

OR is there truth in their statement?

Couch Potato Brits!!

Quote: "[color=indigo]Lazy Britons are failing to do the the minimum recommended levels of exercise.
A survey shows that 67% of us do less than the Department of Health recommended 30 minutes exercise a day for at least five days a week.
The most common reason for not being able to exercise was work, and lack of motivation and injury also ranked high as excuses.
The Scots were the worst couch potatoes, with nearly three-quarters, 74%, failing to do the minimum 2.5 hours a week, while the Tyne Tees region came out top of the league with more than half of residents doing more than the minimum

Women at war with the mullahs

What drives a woman to risk a fatwa by attacking Islam. Christopher Goodwin reports[/b]

It would be hard to imagine a place more remote from the violence and turmoil of the Middle East than this quiet cul-de-sac in the southern suburbs of Los Angeles.
