advice needed for parents...

salaam

myself and my husband are looking for halal investment options for our son's child trust fund voucher, and so far the only one we can find is the childrens mutual shariah baby bond:

this all looks fine, but is anyone aware of any other option? we would obviously prefer to know all of our options before committing... :?

any advice much appreciated!

Racism within the muslim ummah!!

Salaam,

I just wanted 2 post sumthin thats recently been on my mind and that iv been seeing alot lately. When i bring up the topic of racism you probably think oh yeah im talking about how everyone is hating on muslims and how muslims are always the victims of attack in the media and in society. This is true however, i feel that no intelligent person believes someone of a certain skin colour is less capable or less intelligent than another person of a different skin colour or race.

Closure...

Salaam

SInce these days I use these these forums to... well... air my feeling abit too much, I thought I may aswell continue the topic.

Right now I need some sort of closure.

I need something to think about something. Anything.

Why?

Well its a short story. Recently I have watched Firefly. Its basically a charming series which is described as a 'scifi western'. Its unique, from its music to its language. (when the actors get angry they resort to... chinese! full sentences which you can only guess at what they mean. No translation.

CURFEWS!!

dad was yelling at my 17 year old bro for always being out and about after school

bro gives it "I'm 17 years old and I have a stupid 7.00pm curfew"

sister gives it "so what-I'm 22 years old and I have the same stupid curfew"

unlike them two rebels-I'm always at home-so dad has never yelled at me Dirol

so whats ur curfew

my mate from college used to have her college timetable sructinised and in her free lessons her dad would come and pi

Reading the Quran

Assalamu-alaikum

I'm a newbie Smile

Was wondering how much people read the Quran, and what tips people have for reading more. I sometimes read everyday for months...then once in a while...then nothing for months...

I read other Islamic books/article so I do still feel in-touch with the Quran...but I think your relationship with the Words of Allah can get lost in the shuffle of everyday life...

What do you guys think? What's your relationship with the Quran like?

The status of Mohammed (s.a.w) in Islam

i went on the newsblog today after ages. dunno how many of you visit it and read the comments we receive about articles, but one in particular caught my eye and i feel it deserves a better response (no offence admin).

the article is about Mohammed (s.a.w): 'Isn’t it time you did your bit…?' written by Ed.

and the comment was from 100man:
The begining is very similar to material that has been printed on flyers for years.

P-I-G

Salaam

I was listening to a bright Muslim girl read the other day, it was a book about farm animals and when she came to the word ‘pig’ she spelled it out ‘p-i-g’ and told me “Mummy said I’m not allowed to say this word”.

I didn’t argue with her.

An aunty of mine covers her eyes whenever she sees pigs on the telly.

I was told about a person who would freak out whenever the little cartoon piglet came on Winnie the Pooh and would run off to do wudu again.

Another kid I know never eats the “pig” in the animal crackers biscuit.
