Society is "Losing the plot" - Chief Rabbi

Society is "losing the plot" as it becomes more secular and less trusting, the UK's outgoing Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks has said.

Lord Jonathan Sacks told the BBC the growth of individualism over the past 50 years was responsible for a pervasive breakdown in trust.

He highlighted the 2008 financial crisis and the declining marriage rate.

The National Secular Society said the decline of religious authority had led to a "more tolerant and equal society".

Fasting 6 days of Shawwal : The Reward of an entire year of fasting

Fasting 6 days of Shawwal : The Reward of an entire year of fasting:

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said: "Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan and then follows it with six days of fasting in the month of Shawwal, it will be as if he had fasted a whole year." [Sahîh Muslim (1163)]

Subhaanallah! How generous is Allah who loves to give to his slaves!

Do not miss out on such easy abundant rewards

We may not get such an opportunity again so we should not delay in doing good deeds lest we are taken by Death and our good deed accounts get closed forever. So the opportunity to do good is NOW as we may not have a tomorrow.

Is it better for children to have siblings?

There are frequent warnings about how expensive it is to have a child in the UK, but father-of-six and Sticking Up For Siblings author Colin Brazier says scare stories shouldn't detract from the benefits of children having siblings.

Financial service providers - and their press offices - like to treat us to bulletins about the cost of raising a child.

There are several studies each year and they peddle catchy acronyms like Cots (the Cost Of The Sibling).

But it would be naive to assume the authors of these reports are entirely disinterested. Most PR folk in the City are there to plug a product.

In recent years Cots estimates have been running well ahead of inflation. Recently the figure has been put around the £250,000 mark.

Shocking massacre in Syria

I dont think there is much that shocks people these days, especially following the deliberate mass murder and massacre of protestors in Egypt last week.

But the callous taking of lives in todays massacre on the outskirts of Damascus is something else.

Inna lillah wa inna ilaihi raaji'oon.

Want a House in the Highest part of Paradise?

Want a House in the Highest Part of Paradise?

The Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) said, “I guarantee a house in Jannah (Paradise) for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a house in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even when joking / for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners.” [narrated by Abu Dawud]

Subhanallah! Look at how Almighty Allah rewards us for being patient when interacting with others. So every time someone mocks us, tries to argue or fight with us or we avoid an argument even if we are in the right just for the pleasure of Allah then we are guaranteed a house in Paradise.
