Beauty is a curse?

From experiences in my life, i was thinking is beauty a blessing or a curse???

I mean,I've known girls who pretty much dip their face into make-up, and try to attract guys and get attention.
It's like they WANT the guy to notice them?
Why do they do that?

They try to make themselves feel and look beautiful.
But, do they actually know what a natural beauty has to suffer>?
I guess not.
...
Don't people understand that sure someone might be 'beautiful' from the outside, but what is in on the inside?
...
This kind of thing suffocates me. How people judge each other on their physical beauty'.
I wish i could see it,but I can't. Til date, I haven't come across anyone who is 'ugly'.

Ramadan 17: The Battle of Badr

I had hoped that someone else had created this topic instead with information etc...

But the 17th of Ramadan (which is either today or yesterday depending on when people started ramadan) is the date for the battle of Badr.

In this battle 313 Muslims faced off with approximately a thousand people from the Quraysh who had to come to defeat them.

This was a year after the prophet (saw)'s migration to Madinah and the muslim cmmunity was at a feotal state - where if Muslims had lost this war, they would not have survived to tell the tale.

Nine years ago it was the National Front marching.

Today it will be supporters of the English Defence League peddling a slightly different brand of xenophobia. But whatever name they go by, many residents of Bradford fear the outcome could be the same.

According to the comments of facebook, their motives are anything but peaceful, and given the precedent set of '96 and '01, the fact this is allowed to go ahead is criminal in itself.

Saudi couple hammered 24 nails into Sri Lankan maid, say officials

LT Ariyawathi says her employers hammered the nails into her after she complained that her workload was too heavy

A Saudi couple tortured their Sri Lankan maid by hammering 24 nails into her hands, legs and forehead, after she complained of a too heavy workload, officials said today.

Nearly 2 million Sri Lankans sought employment overseas last year and around 1.4 million, mostly maids, were employed in the Middle East. Many have complained of physical abuse or harassment. LT Ariyawathi, a 49-year old mother of three, returned home on Friday after five months in Saudi Arabia.

Wasting Food

I saw a programme the other day, it was about a competition between 3 chefs. What they had to do was promote and make people aware of exactly how much food we waste, by going to the market and farms and good scavenge perfectly good food, fresh fruit, vegetables, meat that would go in the bin because they are a bit damaged or too small, too soft and therefore do not meet the supermarkets standards and that nobody would buy. Then with the food scavenged they had to make a starter, main course, dessert which would then be given to guests at an event. The guest had to judge which chefs made the best meals.
