NO TOPIC

You โ€”

Well This is the new No Topic Topic. ๐Ÿ˜›

For those who do not know, this place is to talk about nothing. Nada. Zilch. And everything else which according to you does not deserve it's own topic.

The other one was getting a bit long, and was just full of bickering now.

So we have a new start.

The bickering in the Old no topic should not be carried over to here.

EDIT - go to NO TOPIC the Third.

So your point is kids shouldn't know too much?

I remember being a kid and saying more then I had to.

MuslimSister Fri, 26 Jan 2007 - 19:47

10/11 should act like 10/11 year olds.

They should know what every other 10/11 year old knows.

10/11 year olds should NOT know about the advice that a gynaecologist gave to her mum.

MuslimBro Fri, 26 Jan 2007 - 21:56

MuslimSister10/11 year olds should NOT know about the advice that a gynaecologist gave to her mum.

I am surprised the girl even knew what that was.

I didn't know until yesterday what that meant, let alone pronounce it.

I acidentally posted in the wrong topic, so I will put it and it's response here:

AdminThe kid needed an outlet. You were it. Someone the kid trusted.

Think of it as a service allowing the kid to function. Maybe the kid could not handle the information overload. Kids are prone to thinking their parents are impervious machines who keep working. Knowing about their vulnerabilities could come as a shock to the system.

Learn how to fake paying attention.

'really?' 'hmmm....' 'are you sure?...' 'so what do you think?' 'no problem'

Is this a reply to my post in No Topic?

^^^ those are exactly the comments I made in response....her comments were really intresting, so I had to fake having no interest, just to shut her up.

your be surprised how much kids pick up , there brains are like sponges they absorb all kinds of info , this is why kids should be censored and protected from seeing and knowing certain things

Does anyone have a wireless internet connection?

If so can you please go into detail on how it works and what you have to do to get it connected; I'm talking about these wireless modem/routers.

I want to get one and have read about it and boy is it confusing.

Mr Honey's Day Out Sun, 28 Jan 2007 - 04:31

Your PC needs to be in range of a router, the closer the better. Buy a wireless card which you can very easily connect to the computer, or if you're scared of that buy a USB wireless adapter. Then either let the Microsoft configuration utility find the connection (assuming you use Windows) or use the manufacturer's software. Either way it costs ยฃ20-30. You might already have a wireless card installed, check the device manager (right click My Computer and select Manage, look for Device Manager, expand Network Adapters and see if any of them are called Wireless something and if so make sure it is enabled). A wireless router isn't normally wireless, it transmits a cabled connection. If you have a router/modem with a mobile-phone style transmitter that's the one. Otherwise and assuming you don't intend to steal a neighbour's bandwidth it will set you back about ยฃ60-70 and again Windows or the manufacturer's software should make it easy. (If you want a lot of people to use the router locate it centrally or consider having additional points installed around the building.)

Yes and it's so annoying!

You Sun, 28 Jan 2007 - 13:03

You will need a wireless router, and also a wireless adapter for your PC.

I myself am a firm believer in wires.

I have a wired mouse, wired keyboard. Wired internet.

Snoopz Sun, 28 Jan 2007 - 23:47

Mr Honey's Day OutA wireless router isn't normally wireless, it transmits a cabled connection.

Huh? So why is it called wireless if it needs a cabled connection?

Mr Honey's Day Out(If you want a lot of people to use the router locate it centrally or consider having additional points installed around the building.)

I only want it for my PC.

My mate steals his neighbours bandwidth as they have wireless. I'm assuming it's bcoz they haven't got a password activated.

Seraphim, thanks for the link. I understand it abit more.

AdminYou will need a wireless router, and also a wireless adapter for your PC.

Ok, the wireless router is this and the wireless adapter is this. Correct me if I'm wrong, I connect the wireless adaptor to my pc. I then connect the router to my bt line (or do I connect the router to my pc?).

AdminI have a wired mouse, wired keyboard. Wired internet.

I also use wires for everything but recently decided that I needed to go wireless. I'm going to upgrade my internet speed to 8mb soon, and I also wanna play games (online) on my xbox 360 wirelessly.

yashmakiyeah i always use wireless 8)

Showoff ๐Ÿ˜›

yashmakiwe need wireless at the mo we hav wires from the attick all the way to the landing downstairz!!

My room is on the 2nd floor and the bt line is on the 1st floor so I had to get a 15meter RJ11 wire and it doesn't look nice, I had to selotape the wire to the wall & ceiling.

Seraphim Mon, 29 Jan 2007 - 09:59

Wireless router goes onto your BT line and the adaptor goes onto your PC. You seem to have bought the USB adaptor... i would have gone with an internal one.

Funny thing is i was considering going wireless aswell... as it would solve alot of problems.... none of which are technical problems. My home network works fine... the only time we have a problem with it is when someone messes around with it. ruddy newbies

anyways let me know how it goes as im thinking of doing it too.

SeraphimWireless router goes onto your BT line and the adaptor goes onto your PC. You seem to have bought the USB adaptor... i would have gone with an internal one.

lol....sorry I wasn't clear enough. I'm only interested in the items I have mentioned above and haven't actually bought them.

I don't do internal bcoz I did abit of DIY before and messed up my PC so had to spend ยฃ100 fixing it, that's why I do everything external now.

I was on the xbox website and came across this http://www.xboxemea.com/playtogether/xboxlivemanual/, it clearly explains it using pictures. First click on 'Start Question Flow', then 'Other DSL Broadband', then 'Yes' and lastly click on both 'Router' and 'Home Gateway' and compare the difference.

It says "A router is a separate device that connects to your broadband modem to allow you to share your connection with more than one device.

A home gateway is a broadband modem and router combined, commonly used with ADSL broadband connections."

So I will need to buy a Home Gateway, which is modem and router combined, whereas a router is just.....erm a router, and I don't want that bcoz I'll then need to use a separate modem.

So imagine if I get a Router:

BT Line -> Modem -> Router -> PC

But if I get a Home Gateway:

BT Line -> Home Gateway (Modem & Router combined) -> PC

I've changed my mind and I have bought this and this.

Mr Honey's Day OutSure, you're welcome.

Huh, what's that supposed to mean?

Angel Tue, 30 Jan 2007 - 09:24

Did you even look at the link i gave??? That would have broke it down even better for you (from the fantastic site 'How Things Work').

I dislike using Home Gateways as they can have compatibility issues with some broadband providers... which is why i just use the modem the provider gives and hook that up to a router... but to each his own.

Tell us what you have and how you've set it up.... its usually the way you've set it up.

SeraphimDid you even look at the link i gave??? That would have broke it down even better for you (from the fantastic site 'How Things Work').

Yeah I did check the website out, I was looking at the xbox website bcoz as you already know I want to connect my console wirelessly along with my PC.

I noticed the link you gave explained WEP and WPA quite nicely, I was going through YouTube on wireless security issues and came across this video which shows the flaws of WEP and how easy it is to hack into someone's wireless network (you HAVE to watch this video, you'll be shocked), but luckily the Gateway I'm getting has WPA & WPA2 which is way more secure than WEP.

SeraphimI dislike using Home Gateways as they can have compatibility issues with some broadband providers... which is why i just use the modem the provider gives and hook that up to a router... but to each his own.

If I use a router and a modem, they'll take up more space, both have to be connected using an ethernet wire, and both will need their own power supplies, that's why I'm going for the Home Gateway. My current ISP requires us to buy the modem/router from them so I just bought my own. Hopefully my Wireless Gateway and USB adaptor should be here in a few days so I'll let you know if it worked. I really hope there isn't any compatibility issues with it as you have mentioned, or else I'm going to go mad!

I gave this link above and said I was interested in it, if I bought the router it wouldn't have worked bcoz I just got an email from a business which sells it. They said "This router is for to be used with NTL / Telewest and NOT ADSL". Luckily I didn't buy it.....phew for that.

Er people......what the hell is going on?

Has anyone seen DM Islam today? They shouldn't be allowed to show stuff like that.

Why do people do crazy stuff?

That kind of crap really freaks me out. I'm sorry if my comments offend anyone, but I find all that corporal punishment/ opus dei like stuff really disturbing.

Without even knowing anything about it, I think it's crazy and stupid. And I really, really hate it.

I thought I did..........

corporal mortification, that's what.

In the streets of the UK. Broadcasted on DM Islam throughout the day. I don't understand why the police, who were present, didn't intervene??? Outside on the streets, loads of males, bare-chested punching themselves. I saw a young boy who looked about 11/12, punching himself as he walked past police officers, his chest bright red. Then, as they walked into a hall, the ropes, chains and knives came out. No police seemed to be inside the hall, but all of it being filmed and on TV on DM Islam, young males covered in blood. There was this one guy hitting himself on the head with a knife. Happening here in the UK. Televised. How and why is that possible?

equanimity Wed, 31 Jan 2007 - 21:43

because its there religous beliefs and i bet the police had a good laugh about it after

i dont understand it either it was sickening watching kids do it , cuz there doing it out of peer pressure , its child abuse/cruelty

if they really wanna hurt themselves they should play cricket with no pads on or football without the chinpads or boxing with no mouth gaurd and gloves ๐Ÿ˜‚ at least they be having fun and hurting themselves

yashmaki Wed, 31 Jan 2007 - 21:48

oh your on about the shia practise of matam? i guess coz its a religious practise they allow it, can hardly arrest them for a crime they're consenting to do it themselves?

I dont know how true this is coz this site can be full of some good stuff but also a lot of hatred. But this article suggests the British endorsed the extreme forms of matam take a read u might not like the pics not for the faint hearted:

http://www.allaahuakbar.net/shiites/maatam.htm

yashmaki Wed, 31 Jan 2007 - 22:03

according to the same site matam was a practise of the early christians and even pre dates it. I for one don't believe matam was a part of christianity, judaism or even Islam. I find it incredibly hard to understand and accept i just don't see the logic behind it no matter what religious arguments are put forward. No Merciful and Loving God would command us to beat ourselves in such a way.

the worst part is mothers and father doing inflicting it on their young babies and children :?
