What Did You learn Today?

It is said that "knowledge is what you hear from the mouths of men as they only repeat the best of what they have heard"

I think it’d be useful to post tid-bits of invaluable information-religious/non religious here in this thread.

It can be stuff that you learnt in work/Uni/Mosque/in a talk/something a wise elder told you/a life experience or something that you suddenly realised.

It can be minor or major stuff. It has to be stuff that you never knew before.

Today I learnt…

1-Why I shouldn’t trust, join or think highly of the Sufi Muslim Council

2-It’s quicker for me to get to Uni by Car than public transport.

3-Rubicon Pomegranate juice is tasty and apparently very good for you.

4-Spending so much time typing on computers leads to illegible handwriting and poor spelling

5-Being in the spotlight on a regular basis results in a higher chance of insincerity in actions and can negate all good work.

I learnt how there is only so much you can learn about Islam from books, and how some knowledge and inspiration can only be gained from being amongst other practicing Muslims. Yesterday me, my mum and sisters attended a mehfil, and I realised just how limited my knowledge of Islam is. I feel a lot motivated from having attended, but also a little overwhelmed to be honest.

I have learnt that having someones ip address is a very powerful thing, especially when combined with http://www.ip-adress.com/.

Visit that site, zoom into the map for your own ip and see how far off it is?

For me, it is pointing to a cable substation from what I can tell as it is not directly to my house.

But too close for comfort.

Tried the IP address thingy.

Firstly the IP address state/city was wrong, it said somewhere in Buckinghamshire when I live in London.

Secondly the speed was wrong and said dialup, when I have broadband.

It depends on wether you have a proxy too.

It traces your ip top where it can. Sometimes it can go no further. Sometimes it can.

For me it was about a mile or so out - a place where there is a cable substation. (you can click sattelite to see a satellite image of the location.)

I did zoom in, the place isn't really the countryside but it's got alot of greenery, it's about 35 miles away from where I live.

Similarly I ahve a habit of pronouncing V and W the same (sometimes as V, sometimes as W). Unless asked to pronounce a word, where I do it properly.

me mum and my younger sister went to b'ham for a week

leaving her home alone with the lazy men - dad and my younger brother

as a trainee teacher she gets her holidays now with the school children

and her uni/work mates dont get as much time off as her

it is of no surprise that my abscence caused her to sink into depression :twisted:

Ive learnt that when women get togeather they generally chat cr@p... lol biggest generalisation ive made ever. But its tru from where im sitting. I was stuck in a lift with three other paki women and OMG the cr@p they were talking about :shock: ... well lets just say it was shameful. And then in the library a group of women again... chatting cr@p.

Im dishearted at the state of women these days... theres no hope for them...
