Ramadan 2006
Salaam
The month of Ramadan isnt far off now.....over a month i believe. Whom amongst you have been yearning for this month to arrive?
So, are you excited about Ramadan?
How is it going to be different from last Ramadan....what will you do differently, and in what ways will you try to improve?
Do you manage to keep all fasts? Do you find it easy, or hard?
I personally love the feeling of excitement when the month has started.
How much do you eat in this month compared to other months? you scoff yourself at Iftaari time? Who's going to be cooking....and do you enjoy it?!
do you feel spiritually better off in this month, and how would you carry it on thru the rest of the year?
Who goes all taravih's? :o
or is it a normal month for you, or anything you dislike?
share all thoughts and views and stories, and anything to do with the Month of Ramadan

i read that and my stomach is rumbling!
the annoying thing is that when you start eating at iftari or whatever, you dont feel as hungry, but you want to eat a bit of EVERYTHING, but your too full. (hope you understood that)

You're welcome.
As it's Ramadan, people will be praying taraweeh, reading the Qur'an more and will be sleeping less so I knew the above article would be very useful.

drink more water before starting your fast.

yeah but that just makes u pee more, coz ur body can't hold too much water in one go. So it makes no difference.
U can actaully get this type of powder that stops u from losing too much water.
Contarary to the common beleif that fasting in hot countries is `dangersous` its actually really good for u. And Allah designed our bodies to tolarate such conditions as well. However if u start fainting and getting black outs its best to break ur fast. I think if u find fasting too difficult u can give charity instead to atone for dat.

eating a packet of crisps apparently has the same effect of drinking 5 litres of cooking oil.
and it makes your hands greasy.

Not "a packet"...but a crisp packet a day for a year.
BTW is anyone eating more/less this year? Any tarawih experiences to share? Is this year's fast more or less spiritual than the last?
zara Thu, 5 Oct 2006 - 21:08
Ramadan 2006
i am eating less this month. i never experience any 'spiritual' stuff in ramadan. tarawih experience- i read 40 rakaats instead of 20
i have a really good idea of how to survive tarawih. every time you read 2 rakaats you have a samosa or chocolate, and that way you have something to look forward to when your praying. and i usually have a mini party after i've finished all of tarawih- makes you enjoy it more.
