Thanks for the welcomes.
Pak was great, it was such a different experience - the best month ever! I didn't like the enviroment in Lahore though, when we used to go out shoppin it was very crowed/stuffy and full of idiots and the shop owners were annoyin freaks. Oh yeh i wore the niqab there at first i couldnt breath - kinda suffocating lol but got use to it later but it's a must in pak! I absolutely loved the Mawlid-un-Nabi mehfils, totally spiritual!
Heeeyyyy, Angel's back in the hizzouse (or country, actually back in the continent, or island:? ) U gotta fill us in on ya whole visit, like a monthes worth of diary entries.

I like that Razor.
Care to expand on that in your own words?
That is an old Arabian proverb which a sufi guy once told me. He explained it also.
Some people make their goals the stars,. - Some people make impossible goals for themselves
They may live n die, n never reach the stars - they may work towards them for their whole lives, but will never reach their goals.
But in the Darkness of the night, those stars will guide them to their destination, becuz they made them in their eyes - In times of darkness, those aims, those goals will keep them going, because those aims were pure, n they will illuminate the path, n show u the road u need to take.
In sufism, we are told there are 70.000 veils between us and the presence of the prophet s.a.w. and when u pass through each veil, u get closer to the divine presence (the destination), and when u reach the final veil, u sense you are close, but your love makes you feel you are so far away. Wen you are at the final veil, u feel there are 70,000 more veils, n those goals you made of reaching the divine presence, it seems it is impossible to reach. You give up, because your love makes you feel asthough u do not deserve to experience the divine presence (this is the darkness of the night). But, when you are in that darkness, you feel an energy.
This energy, makes you feel like continuing on, because your intention was pure, (you made the goals in your eyesight).

Try organisational skills, you could teach agenda setting and action plans and appropriating little rewards for tasks accomplished.
You could teaach them how to sneak into Islamic programs under the pretext of going uni or shops.
You could teach them how to conduct study circles, yeah do this one:
.How to maintain attention of students
.How to regain control of a the class when all the kiddies start talking in groups.
.How to motivate the students.
.How to be sensitive to each individual and apply rewards/punishments as meets the individual whilst not openly displaying favouritism of special behaviour.
.Tricks for establishing rapport with new/shy people.
.How to encourage everyone to contribute.
.How to maintain the interest in a subject of discussion etc
Useful?
thats a good point actually, muslimsis u should do summat related to your evening classes with the kiddies, the ones who are really keen, maybe even take in some of their work...
I was speaking to my supervisor regarding the above mentioned ideas…and she didn’t like them. She claims they’re not “skills” and she wants me to bring my “ethnicity” into the classroom.
She asked me if I knew how paint one of those “red bindi’s on my forehead”. (??!!!) if so, I could teach it to the rest of the class.
I find her comments mildly irritating; I don’t ever see her asking the Scottish girl in my class to teach the rest how to play a bagpipe or make a haggis….
And since my grade depends on my supervisor’s approval I have to give her what she wants…SO, I’ve decided that I can either show the class how to fill up/make a somasa or I can teach them how to wear a Sari. I’m more inclined towards the latter, as I don’t really want to be bringing in uncooked food in this heat into Uni…
But I don’t know how to wear a Sari that doesn’t already have pleats in it…I’ve spent the last two days in front of the mirror trying to work it out. For some reason I can’t get it to stay up without at least 5 safety pins stuck in me…I’m the only Asian girl in my class so hopefully my class won’t know the right way to wear one...
Any experts here? If not I’ll just have to ask around…

what??!!! that's ridiculous!! MuslimSis u should kick up a fuss, don't give in to her stupid demands.

I hear so many people complain about this typa thing about the place they work. My uncle says u jus gotta get used to it n keep on goin, dunt complain. My uncle's talkin from experiences, he's been sacked like 7 times from work places cuz he kicks up a fuss bout ethnicity issues.
Mayb this experience can inspire u to create a new topic

Good to have you back Angel! It def was quieter without you.
I can not even begin to imagine what it must have felt like to be part of one of the best gatherings in the world…it must feel so weird being back.
yep its weird and depressin, the enviroment at the mehfils and the place i stayed at was great and we were in constant rememberance of Allah (swt) and the Holy Prophet (saw), so I am gutted to be back.
BTW the dates for the Al hidayah camp have been confirmed for the 24th, 25th, 25th, 27th of August 2006.
WOW cool article by a 12 year old. Smart 12 year old, she knows about "sir" alan sugar, harrods, and even knows the word collosus (i dunt think i can even spell it ). I get the feelin she was helped a teeny weeny bit, i figured it out, i was easy peasy, lemon squeezey

Yes, My mistake. Thank God your so sharp.
The camp will be from Friday to Monday and Monday is a bank holiday. So it's from the 25th-28th.
And I know I should brag but my students really are the best students in the world..
She recieved no help whatsoever from me...I didnt even have to touch the spelling/grammar. Last week I had some girls paper mache me a "Kabah" and a few weeks before that a few girls got together and made a washing machine out of cardboard and filled it up with paper "clothes"...which was their assigned homework on the topic of "cleanliness in Islam".
I was putting petrol in my car today and when I went in to pay, my debit card declined.
I pulled out another debit card and that declined too…I had some “emergency” credit cards on me, but I couldn’t remember the pin number of any of them.
The man was being so mean to me…saying that he’s gonna keep my car, my phone, all my cards, call the police etc
The only thing I could do was - get upset and phone up dad….which I did.
Dad came down from wherever he was, yelled at the guy, took my cards off him and paid for the petrol.
Dad used to work in a petrol pump before marriage and apparently if all modes of payment declines…all they’re supposed to do is take down the car registration details.
Apparently Shell has suspended all chip and pin cos of problems with credit card frauds.
