Re: where to eat out on eid?
To state the obvious: its rude to call anyone a midget.
Its just plain offensive and hurtful.

Re: where to eat out on eid?
😂 yes... chicken.

Re: where to eat out on eid?
You can buy peri peri sauce from Nandos and then cook the chicken at home if you want to be sure.
But SOME Nandos are halal and others aren't. They have to be individually certificated. The guy you met on the bus might have been talking about one branch in particular.
If you ask someone who works for Nandos and they are a Muslim and they say 'yes, its halal, then the sin would go onto them instead.
And you can even eat non-halal food if its been given to you by a Christian or Jew (fatwa c/o Sheikh at Regents Park Mosque).

Re: where to eat out on eid?
I think alot of Nando branches have a certificate on their walls that says they're supposedly halal (unfortunately no muslim works there for me to ask) but they're backstory doesnt seem to check out. I dunno. But yes, if you check and they tell you it is halal, then the sins on them.
What?
Can you pls clarify what you mean.

Re: where to eat out on eid?
The Qu'ran states that the food of Christians and Jews are halal for us. This is why we can eat kosher food. But the fatwa from the Shiekh was that if we go round to a Christian's house, we shouldn't ask if the food is halal, and we should eat it. This promotes inter-faith relations and is in line with the Qur'an. If you don't agree, phone up the mosque. This doesn't mean we can buy non-halal food from a Christian, though. It isn't really an issue for me because my family are mostly atheists!

Re: where to eat out on eid?
But what if they're eating pork or something ... you cant expect me to eat it!!

Re: where to eat out on eid?
Yeah, but surely if a jew or Christian eats food that is really "halal"/kosher according to their law, it would be halal anyway? I think Jewish law is just sstricter on which meat we can eat, sheep, goat and camel are considerred non-kosher.
Naz Wed, 8 Oct 2008 - 12:37
Re: where to eat out on eid?
and should only be eaten when halal food is not avaliable.
Ya'qub Wed, 8 Oct 2008 - 17:24
Re: where to eat out on eid?
Which verse says that?
I know ALL food becomes halal for us in times of need, including pork and fish that has dies of natural causes.
Courage Thu, 9 Oct 2008 - 09:59
Re: where to eat out on eid?
There is a verse that says "If you are forced by your circumstances, then your Lord is Most Forgiving and Merciful"
Naz Thu, 9 Oct 2008 - 21:09
Re: where to eat out on eid?
No i think you have misunderstood what i have said.
Of course you can eat kosar meat and even pork if no halal meat is available.
What i was trying to get at is why would you eat kosar meat when there is halal available?
Seraphim Thu, 9 Oct 2008 - 21:57
Re: where to eat out on eid?
really? Youd actually eat pork?
Id rather starve to death.
Funzo Thu, 9 Oct 2008 - 23:02
Re: where to eat out on eid?
I heard that its three days straight with no food and no food is available to you etc and you see a pig you have to kill it and eat it to survive otherwise its like suicide.
Seraphim Fri, 10 Oct 2008 - 10:24
Re: where to eat out on eid?
Not really you could go a week without food.
Naz Fri, 10 Oct 2008 - 13:21
Re: where to eat out on eid?
No i was saying that haram can become halal when in need. Personally i would never touch that filthy animal let alone eat it. Theres a slaughter house near where i live. When Im going into town I pass it on the way. A lorry always goes in packed with live ones and OMG the stench is unbelievable. I have to cover my face with my hijab coz its that bad. They are all screeching away coz they know their mot is coming.
I really dont know how non Muslims can eat meat from the filthy animal.
Courage Fri, 10 Oct 2008 - 15:10
Re: where to eat out on eid?
If you're in that situation your basic animal insticts would kick in and it'll be virually impossible to not eat it.
Seraphim Fri, 10 Oct 2008 - 16:56
Re: where to eat out on eid?
LMAO, that cracked me up... i dunno why hehe.
Hmmmm possibly, but id like to think I could control myself even in that situation.

Re: where to eat out on eid?
Of course you can eat kosher meat, whether or not halal is available. Give me a good reason why not. It is killed for the sake of Allah (swt), and adheres to all the halal requirements (and is actually stricter than halal requirements).

Re: where to eat out on eid?
Yeah, so would I, but let's be realistic, and not worry about it till it happens. If we're stranded on a desert and I die, you have my permission to eat me if that's your only option.
Seraphim Mon, 13 Oct 2008 - 10:06
Re: where to eat out on eid?
Thats just ew.
And again, no thank you. I can control myself not to make a feast outta ya.
Courage Tue, 14 Oct 2008 - 14:36
Re: where to eat out on eid?
But your basic survival instincts might become too strong.
Seraphim Tue, 14 Oct 2008 - 17:09
Re: where to eat out on eid?
They would prove trying yes. But we are not children that we would give in to them.
Years of learning and training has allowed us to control our basic urges (at least they have for me).
So id say we have a pretty decent chance of staying true and strong.
Courage Tue, 14 Oct 2008 - 17:57
Re: where to eat out on eid?
Generally, yeah. But you haven't been "trained" in situations like that, have you?
Look, I'm not saying you're weak, or would do this generally, but it's extremely, extremely difficult, if possible for a human being in that situation.
Young Anonymou… Tue, 14 Oct 2008 - 21:14
Re: where to eat out on eid?
Muslims don't eat pig meat and other humans coz Allah tells us not to, but if Islamically we are meant to eat whatever is available to save our lives, your disobeying Allah by not eating Whatevers there.
