I find it hilarious when Muslims give themselves/accept nicknames which are more acceptable by the west.

Some that I’ve personally come across.

Haroon – Harry
Shahid – Shady
Muhammed - Mo
Kashif – Kash
Muniba – Mebz
Ozman – Ozzy
Bhatti – batty
Jamal - Jams
Or you get those who just pronounce names with a heavy English accent.

Umer – Oma
Anwer – Anwah
Irfan – erfan
Aaliyah – A-liya

Or when the likes of Taimoor becomes T or Zeeshan becomes Zee

I call myself Irfan or Urfan according to who I'm talking to. To Muslims I say Irfan to non-Muslims I'm Urfan. To my friends I'm Urf.

Sometimes I introduce myself as Irfan and the other person says 'oh, Urfan'.

I have a friend called Shofiqal. This quickly became shof, which in turn became Dustin Shoffman and then David HasselShoff. Now we just stick to The Shof.

i have another friend called Imdad & we just call him Daddy!
