What Can You Do To Help The Muslims In Iraq?

Contributor —

Muslims in Britain cannot have failed to be moved by the brutality of the western occupiers in Iraq, or the heroism and bravery of the Iraqi Muslims who are giving their lives in defence of Muslim land, and demonstrating their unity under the Muslim bond of brotherhood.

The city of Falluja has faced the full force of the spineless American military, which has indiscriminately fired heavy weaponry such as mortars, helicopter gunships and missiles into an area that is heavily crowded with men, women and children. The outcome has been a bloodbath, with over 600 dead, and hospitals and medical facilities overrun.

By endorsing Ariel Sharon's plan George Bush has legitimised terrorism

What better recruiting sergeant could Bin Laden have than the President of the United States?

by Robert Fisk – The Independent, 16 April 2004

So President George Bush tears up the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan and that's okay. Israeli settlements for Jews and Jews only on the West Bank. That's okay. Taking land from Palestinians who have owned that land for generations, that's okay. UN Security Council Resolution 242 says that land cannot be acquired by war. Forget it. That's okay.

NOW coffins are spilling onto the tarmac and spoiling their TV dinners, Americans have had enough.

Now that Midwest GI girls have lost their pretty lil' GI sister, Saving Private Ryan comes to mind along with the hideous realities of war, so they want to get the hell outta there and get back to the ball game.

The folks who elect the guy who runs the world can accept many things done abroad in their name. A My Lai massacre, even an Hiroshima, but not another Vietnam. Because that puts at risk the only lives that matter. American.

IRAQIS DO NOT WANT US

A war that was founded on lies and illusions has one simple truth: Iraqis do not want us

By Robert Fisk in Baghdad - 09 April 2004

A war founded on illusions, lies and right-wing ideology was bound to founder in blood and fire. Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. He was in contact with al-Qa'ida, he was involved with the crimes against humanity of 11 September. The people of Iraq would greet us with flowers and music. There would be a democracy.

The Passion Of Love

By: Salaam Abdul Khaliq

Mel Gibson's "Passion of The Christ" stirred a storm of controversy months before it was released. Riding the crest of the storm stood Jewish organizations, headed by the vociferous Anti-Defamation League, who submerged Mel Gibson with a deluge of criticism, stamping his faith-based labor of love with the dreaded scourge of our politically correct times: the "anti-Semitic" label.

My meeting with Shaikh Yasin

Monday 22 March 2004

I had the professional privilege of meeting Shaikh Ahmad Yasin in October 2000, just weeks after the outbreak of the al-Aqsa Intifada.

To his enemies he was the epitome of evil, but the man I met was the embodiment of one of the most unequal struggles of our times.

Sitting hunched in a wheelchair in his breezeblock Gaza home, the frail shaikh symbolised the Palestinians' apparently hopeless resistance against the Middle East's military superpower, Israel.

John Pilger, Sydney Hyde Park 20 March 2004

Let us be clear on the facts of what happened one year ago today. The United States, aided by Britain and Australia, attacked a sovereign country, unprovoked, and in breach of the most basic principles of international law. By the most conservative estimates, up to 55,000 people were killed, including at least, 10,000 civilians: men, woman and children, a figure confirmed this week by Amnesty International.

Why Follow Only Islam?

Contributor —

Q.All religions basically teach followers to do good deeds. Why should a person only follow Islam? Can he not follow any of the religions?

A. 1. Major difference between Islam and most other religions :

All religions basically exhort mankind to be righteous and eschew evil. But Islam goes beyond that. It guides us towards practical ways of achieving righteousness and eliminating evil from our individual and collective lives. Islam takes into account human nature and the complexities of human society. Islam is guidance from the Creator Himself. Therefore, Islam is also called the Deen-ul-Fitrah (the natural religion of Man).

What is a mosque? Mosques in Britain

Contributor —

Buildings that are reserved for Islamic worship are called Mosques, or Masjids. Any place where Muslims gather for prayer is a mosque, it doesn't have to be a special building.

Mosques in Britain

Mosques in Britain range from the splendour of Regents Park Mosque, and the big central mosques in Birmingham and Manchester, to more modest structures, often converted from other buildings.

The first mosque in Britain is likely to have been one recorded in 1860 in Cardiff. Another early British mosque was established in 1887 in Mount Vernon Street in Liverpool, and moved to Brougham Terrace in 1889, where the building, which is now a Registry Office, continued to be used as a mosque until 1908.
