Kaaba flooded in 1941

lollywood —

[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOSVgeLbM_I]

The Kaaba got flooded in 1941

If Allah couldn’t save his own house and land from being flooded how is he going to save me and you from the so called hell fire?

What’s God’s purpose of creating humans?

If his creation is for our benefit, then what is the benefit to those who will burn in hell forever?

If God is self-sufficient all seeing and knowing, and does nothing in vain, isn't creation the height of vanity?

What's the point of God's test when he knows the outcome already? Is it just so that he can have a reason to punish & reward?

God who creates humans knows that a lot of them will fail his test and be tortured without end, can he be called The Most Merciful [Rehman and Rahim]?

Why does the Qur'an say don't ask questions about things, when the answer would trouble you.

If God wanted us to freely choose to worship him - then why does he threaten us with Hell fire? Does someone with a gun to his head really have free choice?

You believe that other people are following false, corrupted or unfounded beliefs? How are you certain that you're not doing the same?

Billboard at Uhud Gravesite and Women Forbidden Contradiction

CA TEAM —

Salam aleykum,
I have a question on a hadith I saw at the site of Uhud and I was wondering if anyone can explain it to me.

At the gravesite of Uhud there is a big and blue billboard (you can't miss it) with a hadith from at-Tirmidhi which says:

"The Messenger of Allah s.a.w.s. cursed women who visit graves."

Apart from the discussion we can have on why this big billboard is there and what negative thoughts it evokes about Saudia-Arabia and the treatment of women there in general etc., I was wondering if any knows the authenticity of this hadith. This is one issue.

Secondly (much more important), I read the following passage in a book I bought in Makkah: "It is recommended for women (..), to visit the graves as it was authentically reported that 'Aa'ishah (r.a.) asked the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) what she should say if she visited the graves, and he taught her what to say, without saying that it is not permissible for women to visit graves." We can read this by the way in many other books.

Now what to think of the previous hadith in light of the hadith that was lastly mentioned? I assume reconciliation is possible. How should I understand that big blue (and bold) billboard? If the Prophet s.a.w.s. cursed women who visit graves why would he teach 'Aa'ishah what to say in the first place?

Please your help here insha'Allah. Barakallahu fik.

First of all I would like to say ما شاء الله عليك Brother Harun. For someone who came to Islam a few years ago to be so diligent and insightful in your Islamic studies is extremely admirable and I too was pleased to meet with you in Belgium a few months ago. I pray that Allah increases your zeal to study. I am also happy to see that you have started to think critically about the hadith and are developing the mindset of a muhadith or faqih.

Now, let me look at the questions you are asking:

The authenticity of the Hadith

The Text

Kitāb az-Zuhd contains traditions which go back to the Prophet, some that end with the Companions, and those that end with the Tabi’īn. There are some traditions which have a high level of authenticity and those which do not. The grades of the narrations will be mentioned, In Sha Allah, with a focus on the comments of Shaykh Shu’ayb al-Arna’ūt and commentary on the Ahadīth by major scholars.
It is worth mentioning that this book has not reached us complete, rather over time a great amount of it has been lost.

Conditions of the last British Guantanomo detainee

TPOS —

Watch the video report here

Friends of the last Briton to be held at Guantanamo Bay, which opened 10 years ago on Wednesday, say his health is deteriorating under the pressure.

His lawyer says the conditions at the US prison in Cuba where Shaker Aamer, from Wandsworth, has been detained for the last decade without trial are "awful".

He's being punished because he complains of not havign a trial and has not been found guilty! How long is it gna take for him to be released :/ Why can't they just let him go?! ARGHHHHHH

Capitalism

TPOS —

Does capitalism have any place in Islam?

Well I'm guessing it does, since most Muslims live in capitalists countries and I remember the trade businesses etc mentioned in the Prophet ﷺ biography. But it just feels wrong that so much power and wealth is held at the top. Oh and all the promotion of materialism. :S

I'm thinking very Marxist-like today. Evil capitalism. (Though communism definitely isn't the answer)

Blitz on Families Raking in Benifits

lollywood —

ALMOST 200 families with 10 or more children each get £60,000 a year in hand-outs, new figures reveal.

These huge broods in workless households are costing taxpayers nearly £12million a year.

The figures, released by the Department for Work and Pensions, will fuel fears that some welfare scroungers are having large families simply to increase their state-funded incomes.

They revealed that a workless family with 10 children under the age of 18 could receive around £1,177-a-week in benefits by claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance, Child Tax Credits, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Child Benefit. This adds up to £61,204 a year.

And last night ministers vowed to continue to crack down on the lavish expenditure by capping benefits for all households at a maximum of £500 a week

5 Muslims in court over anti-gay leaflet.

You —

A group of Muslim men publicly distributed a leaflet calling for gay people to be given the death sentence, a court has heard.

The pamphlet was entitled The Death Penalty? and showed an image of a mannequin hanging from a noose. It said sodomy was a sin that led to hell, that it used to be punished by hanging, and that people practising and allowing homosexuality would suffer, the court was told.

A BOOK I AM WORKING ON- YOUR INPUT REQUIRED

Sajid Iqbal —

Salaam

Im working on a project if succesful it will be published as a book inshallah.

I've always thought there isn't a book out there where young Muslims can turn to who are turning to Islam or beginning to understand stuff they are confused with etc.. and if it is its not widely acvailable.

Whether at school, college or uni. whether in prison or in your late 30's etc.... and even something that parents/elders can refer to when answering/guiding younger ppl/kids/relatives etc...

Everytime I chat with young ppl it always questions on arrivals, marriage, beard, sects, black magic, 2 eids, mosques, imams, madhabs, boy/girlfriends, etc etc....
so i thought why not have all these issues that concern or confuse young Muslims in to a book that everyone can refer to as and when required.
In a nutshell all the revival maghazines and the lets talk radio shows i do in one:-)

there are 1 or 2 books like this but they dont cover as many topics i want to cover and in the way i want to aswell.

So your help:

Firstly, is this required?

secondly, what do you think are the main topics/issued that should be covered... i need an exhauseted list

thirdly, are you happy to take part in a questionaire which i can use for research?

fourthly, any similar books or books i should look at for research?

I genuinely beleive this is required an dwill help current and future generations if done properly.
I am aiming to contact all teh big scholars worldwide from all organisations to mak ethis comprehensive and for all Muslims no matter what sect.

wasalaam
