BRISBANE, Australia (AP) A school bus carrying Muslim children was stoned and vandals tried to set fire to a Lebanese church in apparent acts of retaliation for terrorist attacks in the United States, officials said Thursday.
Queensland state Islamic Council chairman Sultan Deen said stones and bottles damaged the side of the bus Wednesday in the northeastern city of Brisbane. Nobody was injured.
"The children are quite shaken up," Deen said.
ASSAULTS ON MUSLIMS IN BRITAIN SEEN AS REVENGE ATTACKS
LONDON (Reuters) - British police said on Tuesday an assault on a young Muslim woman appeared to be a reprisal attack following the destruction of New York's World Trade Center last week.
The woman, aged 19, was walking alone in Swindon, 75 miles west of London, Friday night when she was approached by two white men, one of whom attacked her with a baseball bat, a police spokeswoman said.
She was treated for head and shoulder injuries.
"It appears that it is a race attack after the events of last week and that's how it was viewed by the victim," the spokeswoman said.
"Obviously she is very traumatized by it all. We are seeking witnesses."

Making the World Safe for Terrorism
NUH HA MIM KELLER
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
By what one can tell from the press, the FBI and CIA have seemingly been unable to prove who precisely, if anyone, may have Masterminded the attack earlier this month on the World Trade Center other than the immediate assailants, who are presumed to have been several young men from Saudi Arabia and one from the United Arab Emirates. Whoever they were, the facts point to a number of inescapable conclusions.
Mecca imam calls for creation of Islamic body to fight terrorism
MECCA, Saudi Arabia, Sept 28 (AFP) - The imam of the Great Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, called Friday for the setting up of an international Islamic body in charge of fighting terrorism.
In his Friday sermon, dedicated to the issue of terrorism following the September 11 anti-US attacks, Sheikh Aberrahman al-Sudayes advocated the creation of "an international Islamic body in charge of solving a problem which is dangerous at a regional and international level," the official Saudi agency SPA reported.
The organisation would be tasked with "examining the causes of terrorism and its propagation factors", as well as "outlining a mechanism for its eradication," the agency added.

To Prevent Terrorism, U.S. Foreign Policy Must Change
Mark Weisbrot
In the aftermath of the tragedy of September 11, General Charles Horner, the retired Air Force commander of the Gulf War, was one of the few to raise the question of why anyone would be motivated to attack the United States.
The answer is not that they "hate our freedoms," as President Bush argued in his speech to Congress. Nor is it envy or resentment of America's wealth and economic success, as the media has suggested. The opposite is much more the case: American movies, TV, music and sports are readily devoured by billions.
Will Tears Ever Stop?
By John Gerassi
I can't help crying. As soon as I see a person on TV telling the heart-rendering story of the tragic fate of their loved-one in the World Trade Center disaster, I can't control my tears. But then I wonder why didn't I cry when our troops wiped out some 5,000 poor people in Panama's El Chorillo neighborhood on the excuse of looking for Noriega. Our leaders knew he was hiding elsewhere but we destroyed El Chorillo because the folks living there were nationalists who wanted the U.S. out of Panama completely.
