Islam: Religion of Peace or Violence?
So, is Islam a faith of peace or does it in fact promote violence and hatred? I mean, we read in textbooks and hear on Friday sermons that Islam is a religion of peace but then we see Muslim individuals and groups who promote violence, terrorism and carry out suicide bombing all in the name of Islam.
You're probably confused innit... thinking what the heck is goin on? You see we have Mr. Ladin who wants to kill all Americans, has declared a holy war against the West and was thrilled about the attacks on the twin towers.
The Story of Palestine
A Struggle for Survival Against Colonial Settlement Project
Prologue:
In yet another act of deceit, Sharon is trying to justify his war crimes against a virtually defenceless Palestinian population as a legitimate situation of self-defence against "Palestinian Terror".He ignores the whole history of the conflict by focusing on the latest acts of desperation that pushed the Palestinian people into the corner without any hope for a decent life as equal human beings with equal human rights.
The lies leaders tell when they want to go to war
By Robert Fisk, The Independent 30 March 2002
How much longer can Ariel Sharon pretend that he's fighting in the "war against terror"? How much longer are we supposed to believe this nonsense? How much longer can the Americans remain so gutlessly silent in the face of a vicious conflict which is coming close to obscuring the crimes against humanity of 11 September? Terror, terror, terror.
Like a punctuation mark, the word infects every Israeli speech, every American speech, almost every newspaper article. When will someone admit the truth: that the Israelis and Palestinians are engaged in a dirty colonial war which will leave both sides shamed and humiliated? Just listen to what Sharon has been saying in the past 24 hours. "Arafat is an enemy.
WHO IS BEHIND THE AIR CRASHES?
The entire Muslim world, including the Taliban and Saddam Hussein, have condemned the destruction of lives and properties at the WTC, the Pentagon and four airplanes on September 11, 2001 and stand deeply in sorrow and in solidarity with the survivors of the victims.
The actual criminals who committed the crimes are dead but their comrades are in hiding; they should be found and brought to justice. At the same time, make no mistake that it would be equally wrong and criminal to go into ventures of vendettas on mere suspicion without irrefutable evidence.
Who is behind the air crashes? The U.S. government's case.
Hundreds hurt in Turkish clashes
About 200 people were injured and over 100 were arrested as Turkish police clashed with anti-government demonstrators in cities across the country.
More than 70,000 people demonstrated in the capital Ankara, demanding the resignation of the government following layoffs, massive increases in the price of goods such as sugar and fuel, and rising interest rates.
The demonstrators - mainly shopkeepers and traders - are protesting against the government's handling of the country's ongoing economic crisis, particularly its acceptance of an austere International Monetary Fund recovery programme.
Terror attacks spark rise in abuse of Muslims in Europe
By Michael Thurston
VIENNA, Oct 4 (AFP) - Attacks on Muslims have increased in a number of EU countries since last month's terror assaults in the United States, notably in Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden, the EU's racism watchdog said Thursday.
The European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) also cited physical abuse of Muslims in Britain and urged politicians to counter the trend sparked by US accusations that Islamic extremists were behind the September 11 terror attacks.
"We ask political leaders to continue in their efforts to raise awareness among the public that the terrorists cannot be equated with a particular religious community," said EUMC chairman Bob Purkiss.
US helicopter crashes in Pakistan, two US military personnel dead
WASHINGTON, Oct 19 (AFP) - A US military helicopter crashed Friday in Pakistan while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, killing two US military personnel, the Pentagon said late Friday.
"Two US military personnel were killed today in Pakistan as a result of a helicopter accident while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom," the Pentagon said.
The statement provided no further details, and US officials would not said if the accident occurred in conjunction with a US military ground operation in neighboring Afghanistan.

Top Sunni Muslim leaders head to Afghanistan to save Buddhas
CAIRO, (AFP) - Clerics from Al-Azhar, the highest authority in Sunni Islam, left Saturday for Afghanistan to try to dissuade the Taliban militia from completely destroying two of the world's oldest Buddha statues.
Egypt's top religious leader, Mufti Sheikh Nasr Farid Wassel, told reporters on his departure that "from a religious viewpoint it is clear -- these statues are part of the humanity's heritage and do not affect Islam at all."
"The proof that these statues have no negative impact on Islam is that throughout Islam's history in Afghanistan they were preserved and no Muslim doctrine has suggested their destruction," he said.
