What's so bad about being a quitter?

I know it's bad but i've recently being thinking about it and i can't figure out what's so wrong about quitting, leaving anything that makes you unhappy, just walking away from a situation that isn't making you happy?

maybe its because...being happy/unhappy is a subjective thing. one day something can make you happy, the next make you unhappy. that happy feeling is changeable so one shouldnt base their decisions on that?

but there's also not being a quitter. it's seen as a good thing. when you keep at something and see it through. isnt it? (and what is the opposite of quitter?)

is the feeling of seeing something through, working out all the twists and turns and "unknotting the problem" really worth it? is it really worth all the trouble?

I'm about to find out actually. I'm going to see this thing through and see what it feels like at the end of it. May Allah help me coz its one tricky thing. see you back in june/july.

oh, and yes, hello Revvy, it has been a while. revvy actually sulked at me when i tried to come back on.

I'm taking this to mean quitting Revvy and not returning until another 6 months have passed. Have you specifically chosen that time because Ramadhan will be around that time?

The things that once pleased us might not continue to always please us. You "grow out" of things as they say and get interested in new things. Changes for the better can be good too.

If something really makes you unhappy, try to find out what exactly that something is. Address the issue face on and deal with it. If it doesn't seem worth bothering with, let it be and live on.

There is nothing wrong with quitting per se.

Some things must be quit. Like bad habits etc.

Other things can be neutral.

Sometimes you need to quit something useful to do something else useful.

But sometimes quitting is not the right thing.

It all depends on what it is. the only time it becomes bad is when you quit at the first hurdle of everything (for some things its the right way, but for "everything", it needs more thought).

i was talking about quitting in the "throw the towel in" way.

not the leaving revvy. The Revival Website just is. and always will be inshaaAllah.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Even then throwing in the towel is something necessary to move onto other things.

Life is complicated and you will try and throw in the towel in many places. Not all is bad and not all is good.

yes. I feel i will see this thing through. im still young, its not like it'll kill me (inshaaAllah) and its not like this is the umptieth time im about to work hard at something and see it through only to be disappointed at the end. nope. ive never personally worked at something to see it through when my initial feel was to give it up. so whatever happens. it'll be experience.

i will shamelessly admit that i also look forward to the end, to that feeling, whatever it will be, it'll be new. and that'll be interesting.

and you'd think a person still in the education system would clock on that june/july is the time of the end of the school year but it seems this person, while on revvy, is in sub-ed mode. I look forward to the end of my work contract Hummus. this is what i look forward to.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Good luck. Inshallah you will succeed and find the motivation to continue and find it all worth it.

not continue. but everything else, yes inshaaAllah.

going down a new route InshaaAllah . Nursing.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Oh. then I amend that I said.

Good luck. Inshallah you will succeed with the change in plan and find the motivation to succeed and find it all worth it.

That too, but it wasn't the first thing on my mind lol. Sub-ed mode? I'm really getting into the role, ain't i? Work contract? Where are you working? Am i supposed to know this already?

yes you are getting into the role. and yes. a work contract, a job. one does not survive two years out of the educational system without some sort of income.

there is nothing much to know. a job, LtS works. a job LtS does not embrace completely but has decided to see it through as a new experience.

Knowing that you work makes me feel like you're just totally in a world of your own, very far from Hummus because one did not even know of such a thing. How long have you been on this contract? I hope the next few months go well for you.

september. its just a lil job. nothing major.

A little job is better than no job.
