ive thought of an idea...dont know if its been mentioned, havent read everyone else's posts...a lot of publications have review sections, so maybe you could have a book reviewed for every issue???

islamic books??

then it gets messy with authors and madhabs etc... and Revival tries to stay clear from this. (as far as i know)

You don't have to read it if the author isn't from your madhab (and basically you disagree with it - general "you"

That point never even crossed my mind - maybe thats a bad thing? But it just seems like a silly thing to be worrying about. I don't think book reviews would cause divisions and it can be a good thing giving people ideas on what to read to increase their knowledge since.

Like theres so much out there and being directed to a book you know is actually worth reading would be helpful for people.

Also they wouldn't all be influenced by madhabs, depending on the theme of the book (?) Or maybe they could mention the madhab of the author...that may cause more trouble though?

it doenst bother me personally, anything that can provide a sound argument with evidence is good.

maybe, to get more into the youth, we could do website reviews, will give the "website links" topic a bit more well deserved spotlight.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

If you go too far into avoiding potentially sectarian issues, you are left with very little.

I think people should do book reviews etc (maybe in forum topics or their blogs? just tag with "book review") for the books they read or like etc. Not everyone has to agree with the book/author/reviewers opinions and as long as it is not deliberate provocation trying to wind others up, I am sure it will be tolerated or even be found useful.

The problem is if it is used as a sword to cut other people down as then they will want to do the same.

what about website review?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

If its on this website, then user generated content for the win. the people can create the topica and meta topics they like.

There is a website links topic. Maybe it can be expanded or websites can be reviewed separately.

Maybe you should have like a Brother's corner and a Sister's corner in the Magazine.

Like a couple of pages dedicated to gender-related advice?

Nothing too cringey or anything, just for the younger kids.

Like e.g on Hijab in Girls or Beards and their rulings or whatever in Boys

Just an idea >.<

What like beard styles? How to make your beard more volumious? I like the idea of the hijab though, you could have a page dedicated to hijab styles, tips for beiginers on how to wear the hijsb etc...

I've not seen the mag in years. Do you still print it? If so, its probably a good idea to make it more accessible.

I know

hmm..in my op..coz we're so small i think we should develop the online mag side of things.

maybe on the right hand side column we could have a box where links to random articles pops up, you know the type? everytime you refresh something new comes up? that would be good to bring up the articles instead of them being buried in that corner called "the magazine tab"

maybe get rid of the "my account" box? just put our username at the top in a corner and you just click on your name to get access to all the option in that box?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

do we need the "who's new" box? most of the people who sign up never show their face on the rest of revvy. so why not put the names of new members at the bottom of the forum page? in the what's going on box? juuuuuuuust saying...

All the magazines are on the bottom of the home page, but regular members obviously don't scroll all the way down. Well I don't. In one of the other themes the mag pics come up at the top, which is better.

As long as they really are peace keeping and humanitarian missions.

Iraq in 2003 wasn't and I still have trouble getting over that (I am not sure about the level of Canadian involvement) and so is the whole region with the tremors of ISIS et al.
