UK Islamic Events for Friday 8th July 2005

Assalámu'alaikum wa Rahmatulláhi wa Barakátuhu.

The purpose of this noticeboard is to advertise Islamic events taking place within the UK. These include lectures, regular circles, classes and sports activities, as well as one-off seminars, conferences and exhibitions. We also put up notices for accomodation, jobs, items for sale, Islamic projects, schools, counselling services, etc. Many of you will already be familiar with the noticeboard, having received weekly e-mails over the last year. We are open to all Muslims and you are welcome to advertise any event as long as it is Islamic in nature and does not harm the interests of others. We look forward to your participation.

****************************EDITORIAL NOTE*****************************

ATTACKS IN LONDON

We wish to express our condemnation of the recent attacks in
London. Our thoughts lie with those who have lost their lives,
the injured ones, and their families. In these difficult times,
let us look out for one another and be ready to offer help and
advice where needed. Let us avoid getting embroiled in heated
debates about what happened and who did it, and refrain from
pointing fingers.

Over the next few days there is likely to be considerable
media focus on the Muslim community and possibly a backlash.
Do not try to become spokespeople for the Muslims if you
cannot express yourself in a calm, accurate and articulate
manner. If you are a mosque or organisation leader, please
ensure that you assign capable people who can speak clearly
and keep things simple. There is no need to give an analysis
of the issues based on our limited understanding, because we
may end up playing into the hands of unscrupulous elements
within the media. Instead, let the sincerity, good character
and genuine concern of the Muslims speak for itself.

"Whosoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak
good or remain silent" (Bukhari and Muslim)

We ask Allah, the Exalted, that He eases the suffering of
all those who are innocent. Be careful, make du'a and
remain steadfast.
