I was co-presenting a late night discussion show on my local Radio in the month of Ramadan this year, which I have been doing for quite a few years now. The topic was marriage, which is one of the most popular shows every year… I dunno why! However, every year, a small section of the listeners remind me of one massive ignorance and fault our Muslims communities have across the UK.

It’s the fear and ignorance of discussing issues which make us uncomfortable even though we know they are real, they exist and they affect all of us! But we moan and fuss and complain that certain issues should not be discussed, highlighted and talked about openly.

In this case, listeners were embarrassed and disgusted that Muslims were openly discussing marriage and sexual matters on the radio after midnight in the presence of a qualified scholar. Shock! Horror! (Read more and comment)

I don’t know about you but I’m sick to death of every Tony, Trevor and David bangin’ on about Muslim integration.

From the issue of the veil to the bombings of 7/7, from the cartoon hoo haa to the Pope’s outburst and from Muslim schools to ‘Muslim ghettos’…. yep you’ve guessed it- it’s all because Muslims don’t integrate, innit!

Yeah didn’t you know…’these Muslims need to integrate more…if they wanna live in our country then they need to live like we do!’.

My Ummah, those who follow me, the future of their faith makes me worry till I cry. My brothers and sisters in Islam, will they be strong and carry on after I die?

These are the moving lyrics from a nasheed (Islamic song) by Dawud Wharnsby Ali expressing how the Prophet (peace be upon him) was worried about the likes of ME and YOU- his Ummah.

The Ummah is the Muslim world, about 1.6 million of us in the UK from all colours, races, nations, tribe, backgrounds, languages and cultures.

The Prophet (pbuh) was always worried about his Ummah. He used to stay awake at night crying in front of Allah (swt) and praying for his Ummah. Even when the Prophet (pbuh)was blessed with a visit to the heavens to see Allah (swt) he remembered to pray for his Ummah. It is the prophet (pbuh) who will be interceding for his Ummah on the Day of Judgement. (more…)

Here we go again! British Muslims have ‘allegedly’ tried to blow up several planes and the media is having a field day. Before any form of ‘hard core’ evidence is put forward that these chaps are actually guilty every paper and TV channel is discussing ‘Islamic extremism’, the ‘British al-Qaeeda link’, ‘the enemy within’ and so on. The world’s thickest President George Bush, who opens his mouth without using the one brain cell he has, called the incident ‘Islamic fascism’ and once again the eyes of the world are on the Muslims. Once again Islam and the Muslims are on trial.

So what’s the score? How do Muslims react to all this being thrown at us?

In a dark dark world there was a dark dark country. In the dark dark country there was a dark dark newspaper. In the dark dark offices of the dark dark newspaper, the dark dark Editor had a dark dark idea. He decided to set up a dark dark competition to make some dark dark caricatures of the Prophet of Islam. His dark dark intentions being to test whether Muslims would be able to accept this dark dark vision.

Enough of the fairy tale! The Muslim reaction was anger. Understandably so. Yes some Muslims went too far with their protest by rioting, threatening, kidnapping and hijacking! However, the thing most non-Muslims did not understand was why the reaction was two months down the line. Was it politically motivated? Was it extremists jumping onto a bandwagon? First of all we had the terrible and unforgettable bombings in London which were carried out by four Muslims. Not exactly what we needed, was it? The Revival strongly condemns in the strongest terms Israel’s criminal assassination of Shaykh Ahmad Isma’il Yasin, Founder and Leader of Hamas.

We condemn this illegal and excessive use of force, which was committed in the context of the policy of extra-judicial assassination officially adopted by the Israeli government, in violation of international law and humanitarian law. We condemn Israel’s crimes of assassination and its escalation of human rights violations in the Occupied Palestinian Terrorities.

‘A totally barbaric and in-humane attack on innocent people’
