Knowledge is Power

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) preached the many virtues of seeking knowledge, alot of which helped keep me goin through college and uni. The ones below are some of my fav:

“Some poetry is dressed in knowledge and art.”

“With knowledge man riseth to the heights of goodness and to a noble position, associateth with sovereigns in this world, and attaineth to the perfection of happiness in the next.”

“Acquire knowledge. It enableth its posessor to distinguish right from wrong; it lighteth the way to Heave; it is our friend in the desert, our society in solitude, our companion when friendless; it guideth us to happiness; it sustaineth us in misery; it is an ornament among friends, and an armour against enemies.”

By: Dr. Ahmad Shafaat
(1987)

`Eid Al-Adha falls on the 10th day of the 12th month (Dhul Hijjah) of the Islamic calendar. This is the day when the pilgrims gather in Makkah by the millions come, after having completed many of the essential rites of Hajj, out of ihram and out of the restrictions that go with ihram (e.g. the restriction against putting on perfume, cutting nails or cutting beard or other hair).

Blind Muslim uses a Guide Horse?

[quote]Mona Ramouni’s religious parents would not allow her to bring a guide dog into the family house as they consider the animal to be unclean.

So instead, the 28-year-old saved up for three years and bought Cali – a tiny horse who stands at around 2ft 6in and has been trained to help her owner out of vehicles, guide her through crowds as well as standing patiently indoors.

The psychology student found the miniature horse after coming across a website about guide horses in April 2008 and claims since welcoming Cali into her home in Dearborn in Michogan, her life has been transformed.

‘She is an awesome little horse. What I really want is to be able to take her places neither of us would have been able to go without each other,' Ms Ramouni said.

Muslims Cancel Eid to Please America!

[quote]
New York – In a move that was expected by many people, Muslims around the world have canceled their religious celebration known as Eid ul-Fitr to accommodate American sensitivities. “It was a natural thing to do,” said Imam Tariq Shakir, the lesser-known back-up Imam of Ground Zero Mosque, “Can you imagine what would happen if a bunch of Muslims were hooting and laughing on September 11th?”

£3m 'anti-terror' CCTV cameras 'set up to spy on Muslims' to be covered

The 218 cameras have sprung up in Birmingham’s Washwood Heath and Sparkbrook areas – to the outrage of residents who say they were not asked.

They have been paid for with £3million from the Association of Chief Police Officers’ terror and allied matters fund. None of them will be used until a public consultation exercise has taken place.

Rodger Godsiff, Labour MP for Hall Green, said: ‘Police have got themselves into a bit of a hole now because they have a difficult problem to explain to the public and try and get them on their side.

.‘If the money did not come out of a counter-terrorism budget they may have got a different reaction.’

A Bacon Substitute for Muslims??

Coventry farmer defends bacon substitute for Muslims

A Coventry farmer has insisted he is reacting to demand from traders in trying to give Muslims a taste of pork by producing bacon-style rashers from halal-slaughtered turkeys.

Rod Adlington's attempts to imitate the meat, which Muslims cannot eat because of their religion, has seen a Muslim scholar voice concerns that it could lead to people eating real bacon from pork.

The turkey farmer told BBC Asian Network he was reacting to requests from convenience stores he supplies to and said they wanted a "really good turkey bacon".

"We kept being asked for it and so we decided to produce it," he added.

Interbew Q&A Technique

Job interviews can be tough. They will sometimes throw really weird and awkward questions at you JUST to see what you say.
And in this day and age where the job markets pretty tough, i think we should help our fellow members get a job!

The one question i hate that comes up in almost every interviews is:

Q. What are your salary expectations?
And whats awkward about this question is you could potentially undersell yourself or inadvertently ask for waaayyy too much and based on which they might turn you down.

I always say something like: My salary is as important to me as yours is to you and i just ask you be fair.

You Only Live Twice...

Theres ths new program on one of those Asian channels, where they put contestants under hypnosis and try to figour out who they were in a previous life.

All the while im thinking... wat a load of BS.

Half the time its a male contestant who claims he was a woman in hs previous life or a woman contestant claiming she was a man?? wtf

Has any1 else seen this show?
What did u think?

Gelatine is now halal... WAAAHHH?

Was shopping the other day at the local supermarket.

And I picked up some hot chocolate Biggrin and i was thinking wouldnt it be cool if I cud find some halal marshmellows.

And then i spotted some on the shelf. Theres a HUGE logo on the front that says halal... but im not gonna trust that. So i immediately check the ingredients. And its said: 'Gelatine (halal),' ????

Me: How can Gelatine be halal??
Bro: Coz its prob made from a halal animal?
Me: Wahhh? I thought Gelatine could only be made from piggys?
Bro: Really?
Me: :? eerr i think so. Or mayb i heard that somewhere?

So what do you folks think???

Pink Elephants

One of the things that irritates me is how people make up stuff and claim its part of Islam... ie. going up and down wimslow rd is part of islam, cant read the Quran around 12pm, no giving the man the finger... well maybe the last one.

One of the things ive heard recently is from now till after Eid prayer guys arents supposed to cut their hair or shave? Doesnt that only apply to people on Hajj???

Where do these people come up with these things?
Was there a meeting of crazies i missed?
I dont remember getting the memo...

On the other hand i dont want to go around shouting the 'B' word :/
