The Russian Ambassador, Edward Schievchenko recently visited Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, the Chairman of Pakistan Awami Tehreek(PAT) - the political wing of Minhaj ul Quran Movement, in Islamabad, Pakistan. The visit followed the success of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek in the second round of the local elections where it emerged as the biggest political party gaining the majority of the seats. The PAT won over 4800 council seats through out Pakistan.

Mr. Schievchenko congratulated Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri for his party's great victory in the local elections. In a detailed two-hour meeting they discussed national and international issues regarding Afghanistan, the accountability process, electoral reforms etc.

The visit by the Russian Ambassador followed by the Iraqi Ambassador are a couple of a long list of Ambassadors who have dropped in to visit Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, as his party is seen to be in the position to be elected to form the next national government of Pakistan.
