A general questions for the guys here. Do most guys prefer their wives to dress traditionally. Like Sari or shalwaar kameez or would they rather their wives wear jeans, skirts, dresses. Or are most guys not fussed?
Another old wives tale that I heard from mum is that men dont like girls who wear "english clothes".
And how many guys here dress traditionally and how often?

Girls can answer too.
How many girls here dress traditionally 24/7 and think that only the traditonal dress is the modest dress?

If i was too be honest i would say neither. Sari are so stupid IMO, i could never imagine why a girl would want to wear one.
The key for me is modesty, whether it is in English or Indian style clothing. Personally i think sister look very dignified in jilbaab.

I wear pakistani clothes about twice a year. Unless there is a wedding I am forced to attend.
Regarding what others wear, I do not think guys really care.
None of our business really.
(and I find it really hard to judge people. Even subconsciously, I do not pick up on the normal pointers... SO I do not even try to judge others.)

Dont really care...
She could wear Jeans and a T-Shirt if she wanted or Shalwaar Kameez which i know my mom would prob like, or even a Sari.
Basic Principles: Aslong as her heads covered and she's dressed modestly... she can pretty much wear watever im sure anything will look fantastic on her.

i have always worn shalwar kameez, traditional shalwar kameez consists of many styles which arent always classed as modest...you should see some girls wear such shalwar kameez which reveals the figure of the body...
however i think its best to stick to sunnah libaas...men couldnt look more better in jubas with a topi/turban...also if you tend to wear sunnah clothing your children are most likely to adopt the same style as ones-self.
i've read the prophet mohammed s.a.w prohibited the colour red for a man because it is indecent, and yellow as it is associated with women

Your post was awfully strong.
She MUST do this and that... she will have to...
That is not a preference, but an order.
I myself am not married, so do not think about such things. When married I will see what I encounter, ut not take any false demands with me.

If you treat your future wife like that, I'd advise you to always order takeout.

I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN. Dust, X-Men

MED ,, Good luck finding a wife mate. Women are humans like us too, they are not robots or computer programmes which u can mould to think a certain way.
U better start looking for a wife now, cuz with all them demands, its gna take a really desperate woman, or a 1 in a billion woman to answer all them demands.
I can imagine ur going to be sleeping on the couch quiet a bit during your marriage.
N i hop afer 5 years of sleepin on the couch, ul realise u gotta lighten up.
No offense mate, jus say it like i see it.

when im at home majority of the time i wear salwaar kameez...i dont know why but its always bin like that 4 me.
but when im at uni or go out i tend 2 wear western style clothes...i think as long as your covered-following all the rules of modest dress then it doesnt really matter what type of dress you wear - like someone mentioned already most salwaar kameez worn by gals nowadayz dont come under Islamic dress.

my mum has a problem when my sister mentions wearing a sari in a wedding...its ok when she wore it when she was younger, in my mums time the dress length was also really short...but now she dislikes us wearing kameez above our knees so we dont have much of a choice.

my mums like that with the kameez lengths...i personally think a kameez shorter than knee length dont look nice - mine are always longer
iv never worn a sari - wana wear 1 on cousins wedding...think they look well elegant

Salaam
lol it wasn't only the women who used to wear the short kameez, the men did too. Dig out some old photos, they look so funny.
I wear the traditional shalwar kameez.
Mum didn't let me wear jeans/tops when i was a kid, so it feels awkward now. I'm more comfortable in shalwar kameez.
If you meet the requirements of modest dress and feel comfortable with it, then it doesn't matter whether its traditional or not.

i checked them out and was quite surprised....now its a big hoo-haa if you wear short kameez. I'd feel quite embarressed in front of my dad even though i doubt he'd say ought but will think it obviously.
