Ali Dizaei conviction quashed

The court of appeal has quashed the conviction of a former police chief who was found guilty by a jury of framing a man.

Former Scotland Yard commander Ali Dizaei was jailed for four years in February 2010 for abusing his office after a row in a London street with Waad al-Baghdadi, who was the main prosecution witness.

The court of appeal has ordered a retrial.

Ali Dizaei was formerly the highest ranking Muslim police officer - now disgraced - and was the guy that wrote a book or something on institutional racism within the London Metropolitan Policeforce and according to some, the force had been out to get him for that and eventually collared him over his dealings with Al Baghdadi for which he was convicted, sacked from his police job and imprisoned.

Some suggest that there was no way in hell that he would have done what he was suspected to do, but the police force had a vendetta against him.

Now there will be a retrial.
