Alhamdulillah!
Thankyou for doing what I'm too lazy to do!

Here's another hadith which is a bit shorter:

"Actions are judged on their intentions"
-Bukhari, Muslim et al

MashaAllah!

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Theses books have probably been mention here before, but I personally recommend theses books to be taken heed to. Great sufi books and in genreal great books to read.

1. Mercy Oceans Endless Horizons
2. Mercy Oceans Divine Source
By Sheikh Nazim al-Qubrusi

Two very heavy books.

A rose protects its beauty with thorns..a woman protects hers with a veil

Thought that I should revive this topic.

"Purity is half of faith.......Prayer is the light...patience is illumination; and the Quran is an argument for or against you. Everyone starts his day and is a vendor of his soul, either freeing it or bringing about its ruin." Muslim

Chechen Zikr

That old man is surely enjoying it.

The roar of Rumi - 800 years on

For many years now, the most popular poet in America has been a 13th-century mystical Muslim scholar.

Translations of Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi's - better known as Rumi - verse are hugely popular and have been used by Western pop stars such as Madonna.

"When a religious scholar reads the Mathnawi, he interprets it religiously. And when sociologists study it, they say how powerful a sociologist Rumi was. When people in the West study it, they see that it's full of emotions of humanity."

Many western fans of Rumi have secularised his message.

It was in fact a religious one; and, says Prof Rohen, Christians and Jews as well as Muslims flocked to his funeral.

I ask him to sum up the poet's message and he offers a quote.

"Mawlana says - if the sky is not in love, then it will not be so clear. If the sun is not in love, then it will not be giving any light. If the river is not in love, then it will be in silence, it will not be moving. If the mountains, the earth are not in love, then there will be nothing growing."

Are you still reading (or read) the Mathnavi?

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.

Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.

My mate brought me the whole collection a few years ago. I read it then - but its not like a typical book where one can say "I read it"

Cos...ones own level of knowledge, wisdom, experience and relationship with God etc determines how much ones actually gets out of the book.

I got something out of the book then - I need to study it again to see how much I derive this time.

It was not meant for you.

However, since you are nosey... it means your reply to sirus proved my statement.

my new flat is quite roomy

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Heres a very beautiful explanation of Tasawwuf (Sufism):

May Allah shine sweet faith upon you this day and times beyond. May your heart be enriched with peace, and may your home be blessed always. Ameen.

Theres lots of defintions of sufi, but sufism that beleives in increased dhikr is Wink Dirol

"The Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) of Allah said: ‘Allah, be He be blessed and exalted, has angels who travel the highways seeking out the people of dhikr. When they find people remembering Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, they call out to one another, "Come to what you hunger for!" and they enfold them with their wings, stretching up to the lowest heaven. Their Lord asked then, and He knows better than them, "What are My slaves saying?" They say: "They are glorifying, magnifying, praising and extolling You." He asks, "Have they seen Me?" They say, "No, by Allah, they have not seen You." He asks, "And how would it be if they saw Me?" They say, "They would be even more fervent and devoted in their praise and worship." He asks, "What are they asking me for?" They say, "They ask You for Paradise." He asks, "And have they seen it?" They say, "No, by Allah, O Lord, they have not seen it." He asks, "And how would it be if they saw it?" They say: "They would be even more eager for it and they would beseech You even more earnestly." He asks, "And what do they seek My protection from?" They say, "From the Fire of Hell." He asks, "Have they seen it?" They say, "No, by Allah, they have not seen it." He asks, "And how would it be if they saw it?" They say: "They would be even more afraid and anxious to escape it." Allah says: "You are My witnesses that I have forgiven them." One of the angels says: "So-and-so is not really one of them; he came (to the gathering) for some other reason." Allah says, "They were all in the gathering, and one of them will not be excluded (from forgiveness)."’"

"How many people find fault in what they're reading and the fault is in their own understanding" Al Mutanabbi

islam is nit only about sitting and doing dhikr all day you have to do other things just as important, which includes dawah to both nonmuslims and muslims, jihad when necessary, and other things, even i do dhikr but dont do it all day ignoring other things or read quran all day doing nothing else you have to balance everything.

Except that your definition of jihad would include killing Muslims who are trying to do their weekly shopping in the local mall.

No one has said just do dhikr everyday all day and nothing else. You can do dhikr while walking, while working.

You can read the qur'an and still play football and be in employment to earn a living for you and your family. The two things are not opposing forces.

Where did i say your allowed ot kill innocent muslims? show me a single post where i said that, if you can i'll become a sufi, show it to me.

Stop putting words in peoples mouth like christians do, i know your allied with the uk usa because your spineless but atleast stop immitating them with their tactics in debates.

The usual sufi includes this "just pray do sufism and forget everything else" i know this cause i personally kno many sufi and many of them or rather many sufi sects say this, im not sure about qadri, but they are filled with their own flaws as many think they are michael jackson.

how can someone play football and read quran will your focus be on reading the quran or football? if your doing something like digging and singing nasheed or reading then its one thing, footall and qurn thats something, unless your goalkeeper that is.

You said you support the fatwa of the non scholar Osama Bin Laden which allows the murder of other people, non combatants even.

If you follow the acts of his followers and like minded people in the Afghan-Pakistan border (in general pakistan too), Iraq before the Al qaeda in Iraq were defeated and Somalia, you will notice their deliberate targetting of non combattants and other Muslims.

98% of the victims of Alqaeda and related organisations have been other Muslims.

If someone says "do not go to the markets in a specific town because we will attack it" and then that market is attacked and many people killed, I see that as evidence of the complicity and support of the person who uttered the first words for the actions.

The suicide bombings in Iraq, Afghanistan/Pakistan and Somalia which target other Muslims... these are haraam at the absolute minimum and depending on the intention and beliefs may even be kufr.

You mention how alqaeda fighters gave bay'ah to Mullah Umar... do you also know how they played a double game with him in 2001, where they sabvotaged his attempts at peace with the US and invited the US into afghanistan, at the cost of Afghan (Muslim) lives?

Now tell me, what is your position of a militant or other who in afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq or SOmalia goes and carries out an act that results in deaths by explosion in places such as schools, mosques, markets or other such places?

Where does Islam allow the desecration of graves, like the alqaeda people do in the afpak border and Somalia where they dig up the bodies of their enemies?

Thank you for bumping this up - I enjoyed reading this.

25 pages of sufi talk with people who are interested in Sufism, or trying to seek clarification - it's interesting that no one claimed that Sufism just consists of doing Dhikr all day long and nothing else.

Although, if one DID claim that, then they wouldn't be wrong - if we were true pious Muslims, we WOULD be in the Dhikr of Allah 24/7 - everything we do - eat, pray, work, study etc done with the remembrance of Allah is Dhikr.

The true Sufi is the one that interacts with people, mingles in the world, works etc but never forgets Allah even for a single second.

Lol,

True. Especially, if you have memorised a lot of Qur'an. My husband has memorised almost 10 juz and he often recites whilst cleaning, washing up, even shopping etc.

But I suppose, just playing football and not forgetting Allah during that time, can consist of dhikr of Allah
