And I would call this a bad day for Pakistan. The vultures won.
IMO He was the one person in the whole system who had some selfless notions and was not in it just for himself.
Yes, he made mistakes, bad judgements, but he was not a crook nor a leech.
The corrupt politicians are back in charge and will continue with their corrupt ways.

Yes, he selflessly hung on to power for 9 years. In the process he let corrupt politicians off the hook in return for political favours and tried to corrupt yet more. He retired from the army 3 years after he said he would. He became president for 3 terms when pres is only supposed to be in power for 2 terms. He rigged elections, relied on puppets and yes-men, placed himself above the law and was prepared to send Pakistan further into the abyss just to stay in power.
Corruption isn't the only vice Pakistanis should be vary of in their leaders. Megalomania is another one.
But politics aside, guess what I found?
Yes, that's right. More pics of Pakistanis stuffing each others faces with sweets.
There's even a close up!

We all knew this was coming.
He may not have been a crook or anything like that, but the country seemed to be the most unstable whilst he was in power.
Somehow it seemed less bad when the crooks were in charge. And thats saying something.
Well lets see where this goes now.
I can handle clouds, but cant fight with an eclipse.

Not really - rose tinted glasses.
While there were not suicide bombings, there were mass shootings, sunni-shia murders.
The economy was even worse off - Pakistan could not even the interest on its debts and was classed a "failed state". Now it is just a failing state.
As I said, he made mistakes. I would not consider backing the US over the Taliban as one of them - there were consequences either way. Pakistan is just suffering one set of them over another.
He was the guy who gave sanity to some laws and prohibited the local ways of some tribes - such as gang rape as punishments. Not getting a person convicted of rape no longer left the victim with the defacto legal status of adulterer.
With the kashmir earthquake, he was fast to mobilise the troops for relief efforts, and even though the news channels were not very supportive (official policy:nitpick), it was pretty effective.
since the new government's, the rupee has already lost 25% of its value and the reserves are shrinking fast. Let's blame that on Musharraf too?
Pakistan has Massive (with a capital M) load shedding which are increasingly severe, and when Musharraf wanted to commission new dams for hydroelectricity, it was the people condemning him for the current affairs who opposed those moves.
(I never said he was selfless - just that he had some of it within him, compared to none in the rest. megalomania goes with the job of Ruling Pakistan - I doubt anyone has ever wanted to give up control.)
He made bad decisions, but not everything he did was bad. His major mistake was getting into bed with politicians when the original cleanup tasks he had set himself were not completed within his court allotted three years. This has led to the situation that more or less the same people are involved in politics now as he was trying to get rid of in 1999. Total failure.
Not gonna count the results of the 2003 elections as a negative as true democracy does not work in Pakistan and never has where a typical government is ousted within a couple of years by either the military, the president, the courts of someone else for mass negligence, profiteering, corruption and much more.
A god thing with him going is that the pppp and the PMLN will have no one else to blame for their corrupt egotistical ways.

Have you heard of the great crop swindle?
1. Grow crop.
2. Sell it abroad at a low low price.
3. Country now has food shortage, quick , buy it back at an inflated price.
4. Profit!!!
And the swindle? the food never left the warehouse in the first place! Guess where the money went? Guess who suffered? not Nawaz. He made a tidy sum.
And Zardari Zardari - the other "leader" - is implicated in the assassination of Murtaza Bhutto, someone who has opposed Benazir in his lifetime as he thought she (and the party?) was corrupt/offkilter. Murtaza's daughter is still demanding an enquiry, but that won't happen.
hahaha hehehehe
That guy is only in it for himself and was every bit a stooge in his day.

Do you know what the army lifestyle is in Pakistan? and with it being in power, the eqilibrium (however ever litle it may have been in the begining) was shifted towards, forget poverty but lets finish the poors and who cares abt the rest of the country as long we (the ppl in command) have security and if there's terror in the country then we'll let America pester us to our souls!

The day Pakistan woke up and smelt the coffee! The day Pakistanis woke up smelt the air and couldn't smell President Musharaff's stench. Ah! That feels, so..... good.
The thing is no party is gonna be perfect, because A: There's a PPP-PML(N) coalition and B: There's a recession, it's not the PPPs fault that the rupee's going down and C: the Americans who don't support the PPP 100% have a great influence on Pakistani Politics.

What do you lot think of Yusuf Gillani? Is he better than Zardari and Nawaz?
Someone told me that there's a rumour that Bilawal found out that Zardari tried to kill Benazir and tried to commit suicide! I think thats a bit wild!

It's just the begining of his career, but i'm sure he's the same as Zardari the thing is its tooo early to say anything and if we do, we'll be penalising them for something that anyone in his position would have done
haha... disterbed child? I think not! ... a few months ago he was ready to take over his mother's seat, (obviously after his studies) ... but in an interview with benazir and her kids a year or two ago, he said he had no interest in politics but he was gna do law... so what's HIS choice now? he doesn't have one! it's Zardari's rule!

Naah - he is a follower, a puppet. That was the reason he was chosen by the PPPP over more prominent members of the party. So that he would obey his puppetmaster.
Question is if he will also exercise free will or not. No idea.

one crook replaced with another.
some of the comments that i have read makes me think if any of you actualy ever watch the news or follow world affairs?
musharraf: puppet to bush, doing americas dirty work, killing muslims, arresting innocent muslims, lal mosque incident. list is endless of this crook.
and he is replaced by another crook, in sardari. the guy who made millions out of selling pakistani resources to foreign companies, always getting a share out of the profits, robbed the pakistan people blind nd he is elected back into power LOL.

I'll give you the first one, as he was a little puppet-ish at times, especially at the end, but I won't give you others. Especially the last one.
I absolutely detest the thinking that someone should be supported only because they are a Muslim - look at their actions, and into what you are supporting. While it is a requirement of sort to think good of one another and to make excuses when it is possible, sometimes actions speak louder than words.
IMO it was absolutely essential to get rid of the people in Laal Mosque. The guys were terrorist who had set up shop in the capital and did terrorise the locals along with other things.
And this is also an area where the scholars get me riles up. ******. instead of condemning senseless murder done by these types of people and also deeply condemning the people who allow/support/prepare it (senseless murder = haraam. From the qur'an. telling people it is allowed = telling people that the qur'an is wrong! claiming blowing up random people is a waty of fighting america/israel/bogeyman is not an valid get-out clause.), they cannot bear to even comment negatively on it. But when it comes to other issues they can't get enough of being takfiri. It's like they have got a "scholars and psuedo union" where their membership oath is to not attack each other on issues of substance.
