Islam, when did you discover it?

rightio... em I know most of you were born in a Muslim family and there others who aren't/weren't... but what i want to know is when was it that you actually realised that 'this is Islam' or 'this is who i should be' , or 'so that's why its known as a way of life' etc etc etc.

When and how did you discover Islam? and How did you 'convert'? (i use this word for both 'born muslims' or 'the real' converts because no matter what your origin may be, you build up taqwa)

almost forgot to smile, Very Happy

Good question, I thought I got there during secondary school, around 14-15, but then had a few obstacles. I would say after I left school. Deffo then. I got there by questioning everything with an open mind. Looking back over my secondary school teenager years I know that Islam kept me sane, I didn't realise it at the time, but looking back on it, I know I could have snapped but something stopped me. That thing was probably Islam.

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

This is an open letter to (every) new Muslim/convert/revert/muallaf. It was in an email. What do you guys think?

Dear New Muslim,
Congratulations, you have now accepted Allah (swt) as your Creator, Muhammad Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him as His Messenger, the Qur'an as His word, the existence of an unseen realm beyond our comprehension and an afterlife consisting of Heaven and Hell. This is all you will ever need in life. It is your Roadmap to (inner) Peace.

There are many different Muslims who belong to all sorts of groups, and many will tell you that their 'version' of Islam is the only correct path that leads back to Allah (swt). The vast majority of them are all well-meaning, sincere and pious. But you must be careful, at an early stage, not to exclude yourself to just following one group. There is a Chinese proverb which says: "There are three truths: your truth, my truth and The Truth".

Listen to what all the groups have to say; the clean-shaven and the ones with beards, the Arabs and the South Asians, The ones who smile and the ones who don't, the softly-spoken ones and the loud, passionate ones. After sampling everyone's approach to Islam, ask Allah (swt) to guide you to the Strait Path back to Him. This shouldn't be too difficult to do, since you ask Him this several times a day as part of your prayers!

In the end, follow whatever you feel most comfortable with, and trust that Allah (swt) wouldn't guide you almost all the way to Islam only to send you in slightly the wrong direction at the last minute. I can't tell you which group to follow, if any, and neither can anybody else. Always remember one thing: Allah's greatest attribute is his Mercy (Rahmah), so ask Allah (swt) to forgive all the Muslims on the day of Judgement (even the ones who don't smile).

Winter is the Springtime of the Muslim. Because Allah (swt) has made the nights long for worship, and the days short for fasting!

lol, you make it sould like they're joining a club by giving them a welcome letter.
Bro, are you sending these letters out to new converts?

I can handle clouds, but cant fight with an eclipse.
