It means unique :?

In arabic any verb has a noun form - thus any quality that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) had can be turned into a noun or name.

@Ya'qub - I think when a name is used for Allah in such a way, it has "Al" before it.

EDIT - @irfan: You could have taken the opportunity to advertise whichever forum it was. Lol

The above 201 names can be found in Imam al-Jazuli's Dalail ul Khayrat, which is one of the most famous books in islamic history on praising the prophet (saw).. It is similar to the popularity of the Qasida Burda by Imam al-Busiri (ra).

There are many other books of knowledge that list the asma an-Nabi, two that come to mind are by al-Suyuti and Qadi Iyad (ra). Other books exceed 201 names, going into many hundreds..

ps. check out dalail.co.uk

May Allah shine sweet faith upon you this day and times beyond. May your heart be enriched with peace, and may your home be blessed always. Ameen.

Heres a good article on the Asma an-Nabi, also listing the myriad of books containing his names (saw):
