Qu'ran

Salaam everyone. I don't know if there is a similar topic already but if there is my bad and sorry Admin etc.

I was wondering if you guys could help me please.

I've realised that with my wages I never buy anything which will help my iman. I'm not saying I spend my money on haram things (depending on what you consider haram to be or not) but I never buy anything really which can help me improve my Islam. I want to buy a copy of the Qu'ran, one which has both the original arabic and also an english translation in it as well but was wondering if anyone could recommend one from particular authors in the sense that the english is good (doesn't sound freshie or acorss those lines) and anything along those lines. Also if you could recommend a good website etc to purchase it from. If someone could let me knw ASAP I'd appreicate it as I'm never good at saving and fear I'll probably spend the money somewhere else, cheers.

Also just a quick question, do I have to perfrom ablution everytime before I read the qu'ran or any hadith books which has the original arabic or tarnslated english in it?

Jazak Allah Khair to anyone that can help

wa alaykum assalaam

if the majority of the quran/ahadith book is in english then you dont have to have wudhu but if its 50/50 or if there is more arabic writting then you must have wudhu. on a general note, its recommended to remain in wudhu at all times.

Nope. If it has any text in it, even if it is Arabic, that is not from the original Qur'an, then wudhu is not necessary. Although of course it is best to try to keep wudhu throughout the whole day anyway.

Assalam alaikum,

I would recommend this tafseer of the first 6 paras by Shaykh Muhammad Imdad Hussain Pirzada. It is called 'Tafseer Imdad-ul-Karam Volume 1 (al-Fatiha to al-Ma’ida'). It is available in English and Urdu.

Here is a link for it:

With regards to your question about wudhu, we should always aim for a state of puity when reading any Islamic texts.

I have the one by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. I think it is good as the english used is not gobbledey-gook.

There are some words which are not used much now, but its pretty easy to determine what they mean.

E.g. 'doth' = does (Allah doth forgive sins)

I will edit this and add some more after jummah Inshallah.

The media, government, tried to blow us, but they can't out the flame, or doubt the name.

ok then, what does 'tith' mean?

Best translation IMO (although I do like Yusuf Ali's) is this one:

sorry I didn't use a British website, but you should be able to get it in most mosques/islamic bookshops. It comes in a very handy pocket-sized version that is bound with a zip to protect the pages.

DON'T get the most common translation (Mohsin Khan/Hilaali), I wouldn't go as far as to say I 'hate' it, but I am somewhat dismayed that its so popular because it is written in such an ugly way.

Noor's right, in your face Ya'qub. (Thats for correcting two of my posts on the same day.)

Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.

Evidence PLEASE?!?!

You can't just state something and not give any evidence

(Please ignore the fact that I did the same...)
