And why are they called that?
It is supposed to be "seventh century generation Muslims" or something. No idea where the seventh century bit came from.
They have a website (its in showkat's signature which really do struggle to navigate), even an official video!
And someone has suggested to me that we have lost a lot of posters to them.

Showkat is a HT member. Alot of people on the 7gen forum have HT avatars.
It could, could, be a HT front.

And how have they got their name? 7th century generation? what is that?
(if we are following Islamic years, we would be in the 15th would we not?)

It's a symptom of the fact that extremism/radicalism among Western Muslims is a modern phenomenon driven almost wholly by issues around the identity and integration of the children of immigrants.
The name "Seventh Century Generation" purports to be a reflection of the first generation of Muslims from the time of the Prophet
. However, that generation lived in the 7th century according only to the Western Christian calendar.
If the 7cgen website was "Islamic" it would have taken account of the Islamic calendar. But because it has been created by people caught up in the identity politics of 20/21st century Western Europe it subconsciously defines itself in those terms.

The majority of people on that forum have no group affiliation.
7cgen.com is an Islamic forum where the rules of Islam especially adhaab are strictly maintained.
People will always join a forum which is Islamic by nature and not just by name where great discussions take place in a warm and brotherly atmosphere free from name calling and insults.

We should have a thread discussing their thread about our thread about them.
BTW Salaam people from the 7th Century. If you have questions about our forum don't hesitate to sign up and ask.
No you didn't. I asked you some qs which you still haven't answered.
Oh and I don't dislike you. What gave you that idea? If I created a thread in your style it's to honour you, not mock you.

I think its a great community mashAllah.. got some very intelligent brothers on there.
I wouldn't say its a HT only site tho.
Tell you why I haven't been posting there much Showkat, every single time I go on there, I'm there for ages going through the discussions..
There is a very strong sense on of unity on that board, and I agree from what I've seen adhaab is strictly maintained on there.

salam people

anywayz i thought id ask:
what do you think of 7CGEN ? have any of you heard any of Blak-stone's albums ?

I had never heard of them before too long ago. I still did not pay attention in the "learn who people are" class, so I thought I will take a short cut, and just ask.
I am not too bothered that people have moved on from here. That is their prerogative.
This topic is not meant to slander anyone in any way.
PS I don't think it is enough to cast doubt on anyone solely based on their affiliations. (and who decides what is a *good* affiliation? We can all only talk about ourselves).
To those reading from across the trenches, I have no intention to cause trouble. I was just curious.
and if you wanna cross the trench, we will welcome you will open arms. But be aware that personally I am on the side of less moderating comments (other Mods disagree though).
This forum - the members make it what it is. Want a little rioting? well, it will be your job to get a response. Want it to remain mellow and chilled out, well just join in in all the peaceable topics.

I still have no idea.
However, now I DO know where the name comes from. That is a WIN I'd say.
Who/what is BLAK-stone?

I suggested that posters from this forum have followed the link there in Showkat's signature and his threads, which I find insidious, especially given that he posts them all over a variety of forums amounting to a campaign. I also find it depressing to find that people with whom I have both agreed and disagreed have shifted over to a forum that encourages far more radical political views and allegiances, whereas this forum even welcomes the opinions of Jews and Christians and doesn't reject moderate politics. Being a forum, they can of course claim to have no overwhelming stance or ideology, a claim that would be undermined by the content and general acceptance of views such as Showkat's - ie the west conspires against Islam and the answer is a khilafah. Within that narrow lens there is of course some room for debate as to how to accomplish this and whether, for instance, Osama bin Laden should be the leader.
The past is an old armchair in the attic, the present an ominous ticking sound, and the future is anybody's guess.

Whats this about stealing members. Lets be sensible now. I've had a few members off this site join my site as well.
As for welcoming the points of views of non-muslims, I think there are some great pieces of dialogue on 7CGEN. You guys should read some.
But Admin, way i see it, if you want to find about a community, you don't go and ask people who dont have a clue, you ask the community direct. Its like if you wanted to find out about Christians you wouldn't go upto a Jew would you? I say lets keep the unity, we're all Muslim brothers, Sign up on 7CGEN, ask any questions you have.

I don't know whether this is referring to me or not, but one thing i can say, just merely being a member of a particular forum, doesn't mean that member agrees with everything being discussed on that forum.
This is Mr Honey/100 man right? One thing i rate you for is never giving up on a discussion, i know there were several discussions going on, on the revival and you may have not agreed with everything, but that didn't stop you from trying to convince people of your views/ideas, and you would battle your view out right till the end, and that's one thing i liked/like about you.
If you feel your beliefs/views are under attack, then maybe you can post your views etc so people can see the other side of the argument too. I know i for one, appreciate all your views and comments and i understand it takes a lot of time and effort and may even get frustrating at times.
Anyways, hope everyone is doing good here.

Blak-Stone is an Islamic hip hop/rap band. All their rap songs are about Islam and politics. After the release of their first album Dark Dayz they got some media attention and have appeared on 2 interviews, one of them conducted by the British Islam Channel. Blak-Stone are a band that want to spread their message through music to the youth because most of the youth around the world listen to music so they thought of music as an idea to spread their message across about Islam and the politics surrounding the world.
they have also released a second album called "palestine the album"..all the money raised from this album goes to interpal (100% of it ! mashallah, alhamdullillah)
the members of this group are:
Waleed Gubara (WG), AWAW, DPZ, J-Key

Any samples of their work? What are their distribution policies? (creative commons? copyleft? public domain or normal copyright? (if you don't know, it is no problem. This is something for a side project))
@Khan - I am not worried about where people go. Others may be because they would not dare to follow. That is not something anyone can control, or try to IMO.

hey! their smiley's are better than ours....
and someone COMPLETELY misunderstood Beast's joke post that took the mick out of Showkat's endless lists of 'dilemmas' etc.
but then again many people on this message board did too...
it REALLY dismays me to think that SO many Muslims didn't realise that Beast was joking, i worry about what opinions they have about 'evil kafir ways of life etc' (i.e. my family etc).
