? About Islam

In this thread any non-muslims and muslims can post their questions about Islam (really you can do it anywhere but thought I'd make a thread for it)

I guess I'll get the ball rolling, I heard there is verse somewhere in the Qu'ran or in authentic hadiths which say that Prophet Muhammed (p.b.b.u.h.) said that if a woman ever became a leader, it would be the downfall or something similar to that, anyone got more info on tht and what context it was meant in?

Jazak Allah Khair

i think that hadeeth was said in regards to salah. insha'Allah will post up the hadeeth if a find it.

is the quran created by god or is it eternal?

thanku

"the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

It is created.

People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.

iz music haraam or makru?

"ThiS WoRlD Iz A PrIsOn 4 A BeLiVeR AnD PaRaDiSe 4 A NoN-BeLiVeR.........."

Depends on who you ask and the content. It does not even have to be makruh.

depends on who you ask. Some say it's totally haraam and some say that it's ok as long as the lyrics are clean.
it’s a matter of doing your own research and then deciding for yourself whether you personally think its haraam or not.

Does anybody have information on the Dua Istikhara. Our prophet PBUH used to do this alot. Ive heard its like a direct question to Allah Thallah with regards a question you may have or a decision you re trying to make. You get a good or bad sign in response after praying this dua after Isha which can be read up to 7 consecutive days apparently. Ive heard a couple of conflicting stories on this so can anybody clarify for me please.

Thank you

The general Isikhara is 2 rak'at of voluntary prayer followed by this du'a:

Allahumma inni astakheeroka bi ilmik. Wa'astaq-diroka biqodratik. Wa'as'aloka min fadlikal-azeem. Fa'innaka taqdiru wala aqdir. Wata lamo wala-a lam. Wa'anta-allamul ghuyoob.

Allahumma in kunta ta lamu anna (hathal-amra*) khayul-lee fi deenee wama ashi wa ajila amri wa'ajilah, faqdorho lee, wayassirho lee, thomma-barik lee fih. Wa'in konta ta lamo anna (hathal-amra*) sharrul-lee fi deenee. Wama ashi. Wa ajila amri. Wa'ajilaho. Fasrifho annee. Wasrifnee anh. Waqdur leyal-khayr haytho kan. Thomma ardini bih.

Translation

"Oh Allah! I seek Your guidance by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power; I have none. And You know; I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things.

Oh Allah! If in Your knowledge, (this matter*) is good for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs, immediate and in the future, then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge, (this matter*) is bad for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs, immediate and in the future, then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it. And ordain for me the good wherever it may be, and make me content with it."

* When making the du'a, the actual matter or decision should be mentioned instead of the words "hathal-amra" ("this matter").

Other Info

-Can be repeated up to 7 times (on seperate occasions).
-May not recieve a dream or a 'feeling'. If you performed the prayer sincerly then Allah will make events unfold that guide you in the best way, insha'Allah.
-The prayer may be for a specific matter, but can also be for the 'general seeking of the best guidance'. Some scholars say that a general prayer is superiour to a specific one.
-Some scholars recommend that a general Salat-ul-Istikhara is performed every day, Ideally at Duha time.
-Imam al-Nawawi recommended that before you perform the prayer, you should first seek advice from knowledgable, wise and sincere people, insha'Allah.
-It is also recommended to try to get rid of all your 'desires' for one answer or another. This way you are putting all your trust and faith in Allah (swt).
-You should also start and end the du'a with praise to Allah (swt) and peace and blessings upon the Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him.

This is just the info I found, it is by no means comprehensive. Hope it helps! As we all know, Allah (swt) Knows best.

If God created everything perfectly, then why are there imperfections in people eg genetic abnormalities, missing enzymes, immunological abnormalities, liver kidney pancreas abnormalities in people etc etc?

Briefly: because this life is a test. This is not supposed to be Paradise: we have to earn our place there. You could easily say 'if God created everything perfectly, how come some people commit sins or how come there is war. or even why are there natural disasters?' We don't believe that 'this' (this life or this world) is all there is.

We believe that God has created Heaven (Jannah) so perfectly, that it is only through struggle and hardships that we earn the right, or 'deserve' to be there.

And anyone born with genetic deficiencies/disabilities will be reborn in a perfect form in Paradise.

I'm sure other people can answer this better, God willing

Hey, thanks for your reply. So basically it happens because of God's will and it is a test for that person?

Don't take this the wrong way but it looks like we are having a Q & A session with answers provided by non-scholars. ermmm.... not wise.

General issues, views, opinions we can give but specific answers expecially which require knowledge of fiqh we should leave to the ulema...otherwise we will be giving answers which MIGHT be correct.

Here's a thought: why not ask a scholar you respect if they would be able to answer questions here once a week or so? You could then make the relevant thread a Sticky and put a key question on the main website. I'm sure, given the diverse readership, that the scholar could make clear which answers are universally held and which are subject to differences of opinion. Perhaps your scholar in residence would even give you the impetus to expand your influence through regular meetings and other activities. It would be good for you to have a more active presence among the Muslim youth - presently Hizbis etc are gaining ground (and I can tell you that is where some of your regular membership has drifted off thanks to a successful little campaign by a certain someone).

What a good idea.

I think you need to sign up a resident scholar.

Can Muslims drink Red Bull? I think some don't as they say the caffeine content gives them a buzz? Lol

Only thing among Allah's creation that is evil is Satan and his followers in America.

Everything else is good and pure. Even Volcanos are good for the Earth, according to Geologists. Satan's Government in Washington is destorying the God's Earth. They are biggest polluters of our environment. Global warming is melting Allah's ice. But it wount be Muslims who will suffer. In about a hundred years, climate change will effect US more than anyone else.

All illnesses and diseases, like AIDS and others, come from Kaafir scientists. They mess with God's creation and try to alter it.

Ayatullah Khomeini rightly declared America as the Greatest Satan. www.tehrantimes.com

huh? huh?

didn't think of THAT one, did you?

Yep, the recent flood affected nearly 50% of the country so imagine what will happen in 30 years time.
