When a person truly loves someone then you don't need to do anything to please them, they love you for who you are.

THROUGH LOVE all that is bitter will be sweet.
Through Love all that is copper will be gold.
Through Love all dregs will turn to purest wine.
Through Love all pain will turn to medicine.
Through Love the king will turn into a slave!

Hi Amber, welcome to the forum!

I'm curious, what is the quote in your signature?

thanx

my signature is in regards to the love for the Lord.

THROUGH LOVE all that is bitter will be sweet.

That explains a lot

It reminds me of Dante's Paradiso where as he comes closer to God he starts to write in mathematic terms, and finally when even mathematics fail him, he admits defeat with this line:

Shorter henceforward will my language fall
Of what I yet remember, than an infant's
Who still his tongue doth moisten at the breast.

very good Dave you're full of poems - do some more

i esp like poems that lift the spirit and talk of doing impossible things which arnt really impossible at all if we were all heros which we are

hmm.. well it's not a poem - it's actually the preface to a book but you might like it:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

some nice lyrics here....always good 2 listen to when reflecting upon the day...the tune is beautiful as well. for anyone who hasnt heard it - Dawud Wharnsby Ali

Oh the moon has come
The day is done
The night has covered up the sun.
I have stood so often before you to pray
But I wonder Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I remember the words of Al-Fatiha?
Did I take time to thank you for all that I have?
Did I call on you to guide my way?
Tell me, what did I do today?

I have whispered to you
As I made ruku
Subhana Rabiy'yal adheem.
But was my faith
Bright or grey?
Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I smile at my brother?
Was I kind to my mother?
Did I teach another something that I know
Or did my love of this world lead me astray?
Tell me, what did I do today?

Sami Allah hu liman hamida
Rabanna lakal hamd.
Sami Allah hu liman hamida
Rabanna lakal hamd.
La illaha il Allah.
La illaha il Allah.

Though I've bowed to you
with my face in the dust,
subhana raby'yal a'la
Did I turn to you
And did I obey?
Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today?
Did I use my mind?
Did I use my time?
If I search my heart what will I find?
The light of your guidance is a glimmering ray,
Tell me, what did I do toady?
Oh Allah, tell me, what did I do today?

What did you do today? Wink

Again, Dawud Wharsnby Ali - Madina Tun-Nabi. Beautiful nasheed with a great tune...Chal Madinah challey!! Smile

There was merriment and joy, a smile on the face of every girl and boy.
The streets of Yathrib welcomed in the prophet of Allah,
Muhammad, sullallahu alayhi wa salaam.

A full white moon shone down upon the land,
rising from the valley between hills of sand.
Being grateful to Allah was The Prophet's demand,
spreading peace through the streets of Madinah.
Madinah Tun-Nabi, Madinah Tun-Nabi,
The city of the prophet is like home to me.
I'll travel through the world but I doubt that I will see
A city with such wonder as Madinah.

Now the narrow winding roads are so full of history,
streets shake with the azan from Masjid un-Nabi.
I feel the shadow of the prophet gently cooling me
as I walk through the streets of Madinah.
Madinah Tun-Nabi, Madinah Tun-Nabi,
The city of the prophet is like home to me.
I'll travel through the world but I doubt that I will see
A city with such wonder as Madinah.

The man who reads Qur'an `neath a date palm tree,
And the smile from the child on the street selling tea,
Enchant me with their beauty and their simplicity
As I walk through the streets of Madinah.
Madina Tun-Nabi, Madinah Tun-Nabi,
The city of the prophet is like home to me.
I'll travel through the world but I doubt that I will see
A city with such wonder as Madinah.

Al Madinatul Munawarah, Oh enlightened city!
Al Madinatul Munawarah, even in my sleep you call to me.

Time has hurried by, time has traveled on so fast
And though wisdom and truth will always last
I wish, I wish, I wish that I could climb into the past
And live with the Prophet in Madinah.
Madinah Tun-Nabi, Madinah Tun-Nabi,
The city of the prophet is like home to me.
I'll travel through the world but I doubt that I will see
A city with such wonder as Madinah.
My heart is never far from the home of the Ansar
And the city of the prophet, Al-Madinah.

No just that one.

I haven't heard many, so ask me the opinion of each one (giving me a link to listen), and I'll diss the ones I don't like.

As I said I can't recall any others, so will need to listen to them to form an opinion.

but the mother one is... bland.

Having no heart? That has been said about me by alot of people.

I don't let emotions cloud my judgement. Mostly.

Yep thats the so called bland one. you gota listen to the lyrics to really appreciate it, there's no point lookin for the mentionin of lamposts, that word didnt come in the song and neither did a pic of it come in the video....admin i suggest you listen to it once again with a more open and less cold hearted way (was that harsh?)

"angel" wrote:

No its not harsh (I don't think it is... but u know the whole cold hearted thing... it means I would not find it harsh even if it was. Was it?).

As I said its too bland, It puts me to sleep (well zombie mode) before the lyrics get a hold.

Nope it wasnt meant to be, just thought if you looked at the song from another more open angle it might help

Well thats with everythin when you dont listen to the main point of the song then you obviously gona miss it and not like it...what you should do is listen to it whist in your mums presence it will hit you them...all that she does for you etc.

There's this half-decent website wich lets you put words into George Bush's mouth.

Takes a bit of getting used to. Hopefully they'll come up with a better version soon.

The mother naat is in no way bland, even without the lyrics, the tune grips your heart, perhaps you had it on mute Admin?

Also, a song by Skunk Anasie song called Weak, is inspirational, I mentioned it in another thread but hers's the chorus:

"Weak as I am, no tears for you
Weak as I am, no tears for you
Deep as I am, I'm no ones fool
Weak as I am

In this tainted soul
In this weak young heart
Am I too much for you

Weak as I am
Weak as I am
Weak as I am
Weak as I am, am, am

Weak as I am
Am I to much for you
Weak as I am

A man and his wife were walking on the streets of Lahore. Coming to a corner a begger shouted out to the lady: "Oh sundari!!! andhha huu. sawa panch rupya de de" (Oh beautiful!! I am blind give me five and a quarter rupees)

THROUGH A GLASS, DARKLY
by Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

Through the travail of the ages,
Midst the pomp and toil of war,
Have I fought and strove and perished
Countless times upon this star.

In the form of many people
In all panoplies of time
Have I seen the luring vision
Of the Victory Maid, sublime.

I have battled for fresh mammoth,
I have warred for pastures new,
I have listed to the whispers
When the race trek instinct grew.

I have known the call to battle
In each changeless changing shape
From the high souled voice of conscience
To the beastly lust for rape.

I have sinned and I have suffered,
Played the hero and the knave;
Fought for belly, shame, or country,
And for each have found a grave.

I cannot name my battles
For the visions are not clear,
Yet, I see the twisted faces
And I feel the rending spear.

Perhaps I stabbed our Savior
In His sacred helpless side.
Yet, I've called His name in blessing
When after times I died.

In the dimness of the shadows
Where we hairy heathens warred,
I can taste in thought the lifeblood;
We used teeth before the sword.

While in later clearer vision
I can sense the coppery sweat,
Feel the pikes grow wet and slippery
When our Phalanx, Cyrus met.

Hear the rattle of the harness
Where the Persian darts bounced clear,
See their chariots wheel in panic
From the Hoplite's leveled spear.

See the goal grow monthly longer,
Reaching for the walls of Tyre.
Hear the crash of tons of granite,
Smell the quenchless eastern fire.

Still more clearly as a Roman,
Can I see the Legion close,
As our third rank moved in forward
And the short sword found our foes.

Once again I feel the anguish
Of that blistering treeless plain
When the Parthian showered death bolts,
And our discipline was in vain.

I remember all the suffering
Of those arrows in my neck.
Yet, I stabbed a grinning savage
As I died upon my back.

Once again I smell the heat sparks
When my Flemish plate gave way
And the lance ripped through my entrails
As on Crecy's field I lay.

In the windless, blinding stillness
Of the glittering tropic sea
I can see the bubbles rising
Where we set the captives free.

Midst the spume of half a tempest
I have heard the bulwarks go
When the crashing, point blank round shot
Sent destruction to our foe.

I have fought with gun and cutlass
On the red and slippery deck
With all Hell aflame within me
And a rope around my neck.

And still later as a General
Have I galloped with Murat
When we laughed at death and numbers
Trusting in the Emperor's Star.

Till at last our star faded,
And we shouted to our doom
Where the sunken road of Ohein
Closed us in it's quivering gloom.

So but now with Tanks a'clatter
Have I waddled on the foe
Belching death at twenty paces,
By the star shell's ghastly glow.

So as through a glass, and darkly
The age long strife I see
Where I fought in many guises,
Many names, but always me.

And I see not in my blindness
What the objects were I wrought,
But as God rules o'er our bickerings
It was through His will I fought.

So forever in the future,
Shall I battle as of yore,
Dying to be born a fighter,
But to die again, once more.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings,

But, shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years

to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing

the street to meet the new neighbor.

We've conquered outer space, but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleared up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've split the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies

than ever, but have less communication.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and

short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships.

These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure,

but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses,

but broken homes.

These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw-away

morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do

everything from cheer to quiet, to kill.
