Things that make you say AL HAMDULILLAH!!!

What amazing moments and flukes have you experienced or been through or heard to share with us?

The is Dawud's thread from the guys forum - but there's no reason we can't include the ladies.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I tend to get myself into a lot of trouble and I also seem to have a pretty damn good life so I divide this one into big hallelujahs and little ones that are special but not milestones.

The last big one was finding out I'm going to be a big brother (in law), the last little one was falling asleep on our gazebo with my wife during a rainstorm.

When I sat my driving test and messed up on my parallel park three times…and the examiner just told me with a wink ‘you passed with three minors – and I didn’t see the rest’.

Whenever I go to sleep at night and reflect over the fact that I have no major concern, issue or worry in my life.

When I returned to my run down high school after 6 odd years…and re-read some of my old work titled ‘hopes/dreams for the future’.

Whenever I drive my car.

Whenever I reflect on how fantastic my parents are…

Whenever I reflect on the fact that I haven’t done something stupid when I was young like many of the girls I went to school with…who are now suffering cos of their actions.

When I see young girls from one of my classes, busy, active and doing something worthwhile.

The fact that….people 99% of the time are always good to me. I’ve never really been screwed over or messed about by anyone.

I say "Alhamdulillah" for being a muslim.......... Smile

I shouted ALHAMDULILLAH when I managed to convert a person to Islam.

I laid before him the best I could all the logical evidence of existence of God.

Actually, it was not me that guided him, it was Allah. It is Allah who guides. Allah is one who converts a person. We can only present proofs that there can only be one eternal God who created everything that exists.

He was a former Christian. He had left his own faith after studying at university. He continued to talk with me for 20 days. After discussions on science and religion, and clarifying the sticking points regarding Islam, he thought about it deeply and made the decision to accept Islam.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

I'm changing my latest big hallelujah! to finding out my wife is pregnant again!

Now there is an Easter surprise if I've ever heard of one... and if things work out according to my dastardly plan (and the normal human gestation period) my new son/daughter will be baptized on Easter of next year which is considered the best time to be baptized!

Salaam

Congratulations to all the above.

I checked the University website exam timetable weeks ago and wrote down the information for my exams. According to what i'd wrote down I was suppossed to have an exam today at 9:30am.

Today I turned up at 9:30 and followed everyone one else to the exam hall. It turned out my exam wasn't happening. I just thought things like, what ever was meant for me was always going to reach me and whatever wasn't, will never reach me.

Anyway I stuck around at Uni and found a private computer room. I tried to log on but for some reason I couldn't. So I came downstairs to the drop in computer room. I logged in and stayed here (mainly on The Revival) for a while.

A few minutes ago someone on my course came in and saw me, and we spoke for a minute, I asked him if he had an exam timetable. He directed me the website timetable. It says my exam is actually this afternoon.

Had I just went home, I would probably have missed that exam.

AlhamduLillah AlhamduLillah AlhamduLillah

Thanks for praying for me, Mr Honey and everyone else!

Biggrin

Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.

Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes

Same ere.

When I'm really happy and grateful I thank Allah in English.

Erm...I pretty sure the point of this thread wasnt to state how many times you actually say Alhamdulillah

Its to state the instances in your life when you've felt gratitude to God.

Its a pretty humbling feeling.

I'm pretty sure Dave hasnt actually ever said Alhamdulillah.

But back to the topic...I havent felt 'Alhamdulillah' recently. This is because I'm going through a very ungrateful period.

I say 'Alhamdulillah' all the time.

I just really enjoy saying it!

Its the 'haa' in al-HAM-dulillah that is just so satisfying!

I need to stop myself saying it at work when people ask if I am well, cos they have no idea what it means and think I've gone a bit strange!

just think: 'ALL praise is to Allah (swt)'

When is there a situation when this is not relevant?

'Alhamdulillahir-Rabbil 'Alamin, ar-Rahmanir-Rahim, Maliki yawmiddeen!!'

'All Praise is to Allah, the Lord of all Creation, the Merciful, the Compassionate, the Master on the Day of Judgement.'

When I first read the translation to the opening of the Qur'an, I discovered what I had always been looking for without even realising it. Surah al-Fatiha is simply perfect in every way, yet we all tend to read it so quickly as we rush through our daily prayers. We have been given the greatest of gifts, and we have to appreciate all that Allah (swt) has done for us and has given to us.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

That's about right - the Christian version is hallelujah which is the greek version of the hebrew phrase "praise the Lord."

It's actually Dawud's thread, I just copied it from the Guys section.

Right, well, back to the topic I'd say my biggest hallelujah is my wife, it's weird getting to know her even better. It's funny, we always had our interests and everything, but since we didn't live together we never really included each other in our personal interests.

All of a sudden I live with the gal and I find myself taking ballroom dancing lessons and going to Church like a regular Christian.

It's pretty cool how your wife shows you a different side of yourself. The dancing thing is definitely interesting... she's always been a talented dancer, she taught a class in college. We've been going to these dance competitions together and I've actually been getting pretty damn good, even worse I'm watching shows like "Dancing with the stars" instead of my usual practice of loading up on bourbon and watching my koi swim about.

My girls amaze me, they have all the talent and interests of both of us, they giggle like mad when they watch Dancing with the Stars, God help me when they are old enough for dance classes, and they are as aquatic as it gets. Before long I'll have em up flying with me.

Basically my tactic is going to be make them incredibly confident and scary-active. Boys are afraid of aggressively adventurous girls.

That should keep me worry free for at least the next 25 years.

What was I talking about?

Oh, right, hallelujah for my tiny but growing little family!

Just ftr Hallelujah is Hebrew. The Romans dropped the initial H.

No, הַלְלוּיָהּ is Hebrew, "Hallelujah" is the Greek transcription. Romans are not Greeks, but that didn't prevent them from borrowing the word into the second declension latin word "Alleluia."

Ironically, if a Roman wished to sound snooty he would have pronounced his entire language with a Greek accent, including the word some prior Roman went to great lengths to pull into the Roman language... thus defeating the point.

its all Greek to me

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Actually Dave, the Greek transcription would be αλληλούια which also drops the H. Blum 3

were all these Romans and Greeks cockney and is this why they kept dropping the 'H's

Might be a universal tendency. And they drank a lot of wine.

so they weren't cockneys, who only ever drink Stella Artois

That's Stella Hartois.

lol!

My Carribean friend told me that to do a 100% wonderful Jamaican accent by dropping the 'H' from the beginning of any word, and also adding an 'H' to any word that starts with a vowel.

Also say 'Bacon' as if your saying 'Beer can'

'Allelujah Dave! Hal 'amdulillah!

If anyone wants to do a truly GREAT impression of a cow. don't resort to simple "moo" noises, they are simply not convincing at all. Instead try to say the word "mirror" with a Northern-Irish accent.

Perfect

-When I was hot, annoyed, frustrated and very lost...rummaging for my phone so that I could call dad...parked very dangerously on a main road...and this guy comes up to my car, knocks on the window and says 'Do you need any help Miss?'...and gave me the right directions. Biggrin

-When I recieved a phone call today for a job interview for this Thursday. In this FANTASTIC school, that I really, really want to work in.

Cool! Congratulations MuslimSister!

Are you going to take it?

If they offer it. Yeh. I SO wanted them to invite me for an interview.

Its job interview for them to see if I'm suitable for their school. It has everything I want...

Its a great school. Not too far from where I live. They offer TWO teachers assistants for every teacher, they give half a day off everyweek to plan, they celebrate 'cultural diversity' a lot (despite being a predominately 'white' school), they do ALL your planning for you...and its the one of the highest paying boroughs in England. Biggrin

God willing I should get this job...

Whoa... I think I want that job! Well congratulations! You must have done something right to get their attention, I can't imagine you'd have any issues whatsoever with an interview. Unless you're drastically different than you are online you come across as warm but professional, an awesome combination for a teacher.

Goodluck! Let us know how it goes

Aw. Thanks Dave.

If this job is good for me, then inshallah I should get it.

Hey good luck!
