U always dream but like me i guess you tend to forget also...well i think if its a bad dream you cant tell anyone but if you keep havin the dream and you confront sum1 who is authorised to tell you what your dream means then i think it is ok.

I think people need to be careful about dream interpretation.

Last year a Mawlana came from South Africa to our madrassah, he only came as a visitor but our Teacher asked him to teach us a few lessons for sake of blessing and one of the topics was dreams and their meanings. During the course of the lesson our Visitin teacher gave 9 criteria that must be found in a dream interpreter:

1. He must have adequate knowledge of the Tafseer of the Quraan.

2. He must be a Haafiz of the Ahadith of Rasulullah (salallahu alayhi wa sallam).

3. He must be well versed in the Arabic language.

4. He must be familiar with the roots of words so that he knows where they are derived from.

5. He must be familiar with the nature and status of people.

6. He must be familiar with the basic principles of interpretation.

7. He must possess a pure and clean soul.

8. He must be a man with sound morality.

9. He must be honest in speech and conduct.

Only when these 9 qualities are present in a person can he interpret dreams. I doubt the people who read Allamah Ibn Seereen's book fulfill all 9 conditions so there interpreting their dreams is a futile act.

Also those who do rely on Allamah Seereen's book, in the original Allamah Sahib mentions certain instances when two people come with the same dream but Allamah interprets them entirely differently based on what he knew abt the different ppls backgrounds. I dont know if the english book has these instances, if it doesnt I advise you to refer to the arabic original which makes it clear that the same dream can even mean different things with different people.

Basically dream interpretation is not some joke that you just read a book and make your own conclusions- it is a part of Nubuwwah and should be treated with grreatest respect adn should be referred to the authorities in this field.

Ya ALLAH Madad.

....hence why i dont get my dreams interpreted. i just let them be

only if Shaykh-Ul-Islam were to interpret them for me, would i take it seriously

I'm sure there's a hadith.

Vol 9, Book 87. Interpretation Of Dreams.
Hadith 124. (Shahi Bukhari)

Narrated By Abu Qatada: The Prophet said, "A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Satan. So whoever has seen (in a dream) something he dislike, then he should SPIT without saliva, thrice on his left and seek refuge with Allah from Satan, for it will not harm him, and Satan cannot appear in my shape."

Vol 9, Book 87. Interpretation Of Dreams.
Hadith 168. (Shahi Bukhari)

Narrated By Abu Salama: I used to see a dream which would make me sick till I heard Abu Qatada saying, "I too, used to see a dream which would make me sick till I heard the Prophet saying, "A good dream is from Allah, so if anyone of you saw a dream which he liked, he should not tell it to anybody except to the one whom he loves, and if he saw a dream which he disliked, then he should seek refuge with Allah from its evil and from the evil of Satan, and SPIT three times (on his left) and should not tell it to anybody, for it will not harm him."

it so intresting that what a person see's in their dream has TOTALLY opposite meanings to what is seen

i saw such a weird and twisted dream last night

and all it meant was that I'm gonna "open up to a close mate/tell her my secrets/look up to her etc"

Can any1 tell me who here is a qualified dream-interpreter? Can any1 here refer me to a qualified dream-interpreter?

for some reason this is such a common dream

i must agree with Bro Medievalist..........none of us here can really interpret dreams correctly and should be careful wen doing so.

Like the Hadith said, if you have a good dream....share it with your loved ones only. and a bad dream, then spit on your left 3 times and seek refuge.

I’m pretty sure everyone here is aware that dream interpretation can never be 101% accurate and that meaning of dreams mean different things for different people….in fact dreams are also relative to time/culture/gender/marital status/place etc etc

Also most people know that to get the most accurate meaning of your dream one must consult a sheikh who is knowledgeable in this science.

The first chapter of Ibn Seerins book clarifies all of the above in details.

However, to claim that it is “futile” for us to consult his book is wrong.

If this was the case then he would never have compiled a book.

Bearing ALL of the above in mind (which is clarified in his own book), there is nothing with consulting his work, if you wish to shed some sort of meaning to your dream.

Isnt that what ive been saying all along.

You prob have...I'm sorry I've missed it.

I was just trying to answer the claim that its "wrong for us" to consult the works of Ibn Seerin.

i never said that it was wrong

i jus dont think a dream specific to me can be interpreted accurately and could mean several diff things........which is why i just forget about the dream to avoid ambiguity

It's up to you...

Personally, approx 80% of the time my dreams have came true based on the meanings in that book.

But bare all of the above in mind...and know that its always better to consult a Sheikh.

I didnt/couldnt cos my dreams are way too personal.
