She was wearing the hijab :?

yeah I know but she had make on like a slut. so go figure.

For a man that suppose to enlighten you don’t sound like any philosopher I know , unless they’ve been smoking something my budget doesn’t allow me to take!

Come across discreetly chauvinist, a person who likes to abuse women! I’m glad this sister didn’t marry you, although I don’t know the exact details and suspect allot of fabrication in your post-

As real as the Shaytanic whispers are.

I see sisters with makeup on but I don't go telling people about it and call them a "slut". To expand on what brother Shazan has said :

Quote:
by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Mentioning a sin is a sin in itself. It is like (or worse than) dropping one’s pants in front of others; shameless. It is a serious issue that people are not careful about. It is also sinful to hear others speak of sins, as great scholars who have talked about the sins of the tongue, such as Imam al-Ghazali, Imam al-Nawawi, and Imam al-Barkawi, all tell us.

This, and other like matters, is why the Sufis say, “One who dies without becoming intimately familiar with this knowledge of ours dies committing major sins without knowing it.”

In regards to the topic I first used to think wearing a lot of make-up was perfectly fine but I found out how wrong I was.

However I think in the society we stay in to wear a little bit of make-up isn't necessarily seen as an attraction most people see it as a girl making herself look presentable (I am talkin minimal make-up). I normally wear a bit of eye-shadow coz my eyes look real dead hence to give some life to them.

i (respectfully Lol disagree. as an extension of that argument we shouldn't have to wear hijab because if anything it attracts more attention to us. many things are considered the norm of this society but that doesn't mean we should accept them as our norm.

as far as i know, islamically kohl/surma is allowed as long as it doesn't smudge out of the eye. anything other than this is for the purpose of beautification and only allowed in the presence of women or one's mahrems.

I NEVER WORE IT BECAUSE OF THE TALIBAN, MOTHER. I LIKE THE MODESTY AND PROTECTION IT AFFORDS ME FROM THE EYES OF MEN.

i agree with Dust simply because that's what our religion very clearly states. I've yet to hear of a scholar who says it's ok to wear make up regardless of how much is applied.

Kohl is a different issue and since it's sunnah sisters have to exercise their own judgement when wearing it in public.

Personally i would refrain from wearing kohl in public coz it has the same effect as wearing other eye make up i.e eye liners. Also if a sister wears niqab it tends to emphasise the eyes more so scholars tend to advise these sisters to avoid it as a precaution.

Having said that I don't think any of us should go around abusing sisters who wear make up or kohl in public perhaps they are unaware of the Islamic stance . If you want to advise sisters do so in a beautiful manner or remain silent.

Yeah but the point being even the eyes can be intoxicating. And hypnotizing.

Understand what you know.

Where did you get that from?

As far as I understand it, only unislamic things are to be avoided (and you can create a new culture out of islamic practices or continue the islamic practices of an existing one).

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

i think i commented on this when i was yashmaki...how come this old thread is alive again....

“O my people! Truly, this life of the world is nothing but a (quick passing) enjoyment, and verily, the hereafter that is the home that will remain forever.” [Ghafir : 39]

Someone called 'Muslimwomen' commented on it the other day...

what's "yashmaki"?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Imho women are allowed to use make up as long as it is done within the boundary of their home for their husbands. If it is used in a public place where their beauty is on show for all to enjoy then it will not be permissible. I am in favour of niqaab over hijaab.

@Raj I suggest you first take care of your personal maladies than worrying about others. No pious man regards himself as pious, but always considers himself to be the lowest of the low, it is a sign of humility. Hadhrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi once said, "I regard evey muslim to be better than me, and every non muslim to be potentially better than me."

Yes because that would have been especially true for him I'm glad he actually said it saves me from saying it and starting all kinds of trouble
