Are You A Morning Person?

angel,

Going to bed before you are tired doesn't work, but you have to give yourself a chance to learn the pattern even if it means reading half the night. Don't be active or on the computer by night until you've learned a pattern that works.

angel,

Practise early to bed. Get up at a fixed time each day, say 8am shouldn't shock you too much. After two weeks of trial and error at that, only go to bed when you're tired but get up at a consistent time. a) it is easy. b) sooner or later everyone gets into a pattern. c) what you go through is very normal, stop wallowing.

Plus during the day really make yourself tired. Over exert yourself. Do something demading. By 8 or whatever you'll hit the hay and get conked out straight away. Biggrin

well not-so-clever irf, i said in my last post that i cant go 2 sleep, i feel tired but not sleepy...if i go 2 bed at 11 i only manage to sleep at 1am!

Read a boring book...

Say really long prayers...

You soon be sound asleep.

One other thing, relate to your days as important. If that means staying up for the remaining three hours of a long night, do it, but don't make a habit of it. Think of it as learning habits, and remember that if you don't you're not wierd, and there's still hope.

have a looong, hot bubble bath

that should conk u out and you'll wake up smelling nice too

AND read a book and drink hot chocolate

8 is to early, it means i will miss my isha prayer, so whats the the point of missing my night prayer in order to read my mornin pray, should read both of them! I barely come home at 9:30 pm and sittin at wrk aint demandin!

As for readin books, i cant concentrate, i like to understand what i am readin!

Then go to sleep after Isha.

You don't have to read a book for the interest value. It's better if you read something boring, it'll send you to sleep quicker.

I cant got 2 sleep by readin a book, i cant just fall asleep while doin somethin thats hard for me.

P.s. thanks yash for the tips on wakin up for fajar.

angel,

Part of the problem is you're resisting, it doesn't have to be 8 but you aren't giving yourself a chance. Like I said, don't expect to sleep till you're tired but have a pattern, such as set an alarm on your phone for 11.30pm to have a bath and read in bed, and an alarm for whatever time would work for you. Stop resisting!

I'll keep out of this topic...

You all will feel alot better about yourselves.

I can't have that.

Resisting what, i wana sleep! i just dont know how i can sleep early...i'll try everythin everyone has said.

come admin, your advice would be apreciated.

Angel, just perform your Isha prayers last thing at night, then go to bed - making 'the last thing at night' sometime before midnight, obviously. After a few days, it becomes habit and hey presto! You're snoring like a train wreck. To wake up for fajr, tell yourself you will and ask Allaah to help you achieve this.

The only time when i quickly fall asleep is if im really tired and that only happens if i come back home from the gym. So i guess my tip is do some physical work that drains you of your energy and then you'll fall asleep alot quicker and rise alot quicker.

That does not, should not happen for most people Eeyore. Exercise produces endorphines which keep you happy and jumpy.. definitely not good 'wind down' practice. I know it works for you, but you're odd

Yeh that sounds like an idea, but how do u manage to stay up till late and wake up for fajar :?

In all honesty, my body's just tuned well to it. I've always been a light sleeper and early riser. I can go to bed at 2am and still tell myself to be up at 4.30 - and I will be up at 4.30.

Cuz you over-slept and your body finds it difficult to adjust to the erratic pattern, so it just goes.. bleurgh

MuslimSisLilSis,

I have news for you: You are not lazy. That is NOT it.

i've herd loadsa elderly ppl say that the time at which a baby is born affects whether they become a morning or night person. this theory seems to work when applied to me and my siblings - one of my bros who was born at fajr time goes to sleep early and gets up early - he's a morning person. whereas i was born around 1 in the morning, and i'm a night person like muslimsis. that is, i prefer to stay awake at night doing my work or whatever (its so quiet at this time too, ideal for working) and sometimes i hav a problem getting up for fajr. Sad my mums always saying, "wot do you expect: ul get up at 6 having slept at 2?!" but its hard to go to sleep early wen u know that this is the time u can think straight and get the most work done. however i ges i gotta get my priorities straight - Fajr is more important than work. thanx for the tips yash, i'm gonna try sleeping early tomorrow inshaAllah.

I found it really hard getting up fajr too... because of all the All-Nighters during coursework days.. lol. Oh how I'm glad those are over for a while!

Anyways.. here's an idea.. maybe it'd work for you:

1. Find a friend that also has difficulties getting up for Fajr to pray.
2. Tell your friend.. that you'll miss call her during Fajr time so she wakes up everyday. Get her to answer or reject the call for confirmation

The responsibilty will wake you up.. you wouldn't wanna miss your pray and also let your friend sleep in and miss hers.

It works.

As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, thou hast no part in them in the least their affair is with Allah He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did.

i'd say im far more worse of then the whole lot of you

i sleep around 3.00 thats coz i cnt get 2 sleep ..which means getting up 4
fajar is a mission, including lectures from my mum and when i eventually do get up i be eager to get back
in bed

waking up time is round 12.00 and its become a habit....just cnt get into
a betta routine....and thats coz im mostly free in the day and theres not
much 2 do.

now ramadhan coming i'll prob sleep till even later

good tips yash

i dont like goin uni.....i miss half the threads and cant be boetherd readin all the posts whilst im away Cray 2

.....whaqt i found works for going sleep.....Read ur Kalmay, and then do Dhikr in your head. i read thats the best remedy if you cant sleep. works all the time when im really struggling

and LilSis....i wake as late as you!! but im back at uni and im struggling

its quarter past 1am.....gotta wake up for fajr at 5ish....and then for uni at 8ish :?

Asalamualaikum!

Waking up 4 fajr is a problem 4 me too as i cant go 2 sleep untill 1-2am. Before i go 2 bed i put both of my alarms on but still find it really hard.

Ive slept dwnstairs once or twice n gt up 4 fajr on time coz its easier but then again parents complain 4 sleeping dwnstairs sayin"wats a bedroom 4?"..even though i try n make em understand, nothin changes their mind...its just annoyin Sad

I think the holy month of Ramadhan is goin 2 b a gud exercise 4 all of us n im plannin 2 get used 2 the ramadhan times even after the month is gne.

Wen i wake up early my day seems 2 go smoothly n peaceful compairing 2 other dayz....on weekends my latest time is 9-10am if i wake up any later i just get headaches plus it seems like half of the day has gne.

One thing I rate about mums is their energy at Sehri time.

My mum makes different things at Sehri time for all of us daily…she runs up and down the stairs trying to drag my dad/brother out of bed…and then cleans up as well as doing all her Ibadah…and never goes back to sleep.

The rest of us sit there like zombies. For us its missions just getting out of bed, eating and praying/reading Qur’an….

Wasalaam
