no Hamza Yusuf fans here?

or zaid shakir?

Ibrahim osi effa?

Muhammad al Yaqoubi?

Their speeches would be a bit deep for me, yet, I'm thinking lol

I do like Hamza Yusuf and Shaykh Yaqoobi

I don't think I've heard a Ibrahim Osi Effa or Zaid Shakir talk, hmmm

evertime you see something shameless, you lose a bit of your humanity, until you just become like an animal "i wanna do what i want, whenever i want" - thats how animal work, they do stuff whenever they feel like it.
when we disappoint someone, what's the human response? avoid them. when we sin, who are we disappointing, so shaytan comes and asks "what we going to do now?" - avoid Allah... however bad you are, can you compete your evil deed against Allah's mercy? the worst thing you can do is lose hope in Allah's mercy.

Allah is extremely forgiving (ghafoor) and always merciful (raheem). Allah didnt say that he was "always forgiving" coz He's not. dont think you can advantage of Allah's forgiveness. coz that door wont always be opened.

"i wish Allah had guided me, then i would have been good" howd you respond to that? Allah says that His ayaats (verses, signs etc..) were sent to you. "you didnt feed me, no! the plate was in front of you! you didnt eat!" but we denied the ayahs and we showed arrogance and were from those who denied.

2 problems externally - shamelessness and not respecting parents

problems internally - ego (arrogance, apathy: using "whatever" whenever giving advice or in any situation; having an attitude of: nothing can touch me, im not scared of hell, im too rough round the edge to get affected by this.)

-

a slave (of Allah) doesnt have ego, isnt all about "me, me, me". we need to accept that we are slaves of Allah, this is the way to kill the ego, this is the way you'll be able to give up on shamelessness coz the master said dont be shameless. you'll be able to listen/obey parents whoever irrational and illogical or unfair they might get, coz the master said be good to your parents.

there's more to life they movies and that. you will survive if you give up this stuff, there is still oxygen, you will even be happier and better off! do sports, find activities that at least isnt making you a worst human being, hang out in the masjid.

when the mother calls... you answer: "comiiiiiiiiiiing". your mother who carried you around for 9 months, imagine carrying a dictionary  for 4 months, even when you're going toilet and even when you're going to bed. then she gave birth to you and nearly died doing so. and you're "comiiiiing"?

"my parents dont understand me" they do, you THINK they dont, they understood you when you were pooping on yourself.

my parents have a funny accent". they're twice as smart as you! they can at least be understood in english aaand they have their mother tongue, can you speak urdu/bengali/arabic? life will get so much easier when you have your parents' duah with you. it will be easier to wake up for fajr, to stay away from shamelessness.

Quick preview, but please, listen to it. the audio isnt great, just put it on really loud and let it sink it.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

 (Queens of Islam).

I'm not one to watch many lectures/speeches but this one (I watched aaaagees ago and was meaning to post but forgot) was particularly cool.

It's about Hayaa/Modesty and the role/significance of Women in Islam.
