Mosques speak out against Grooming - about time!

Grooming of young girls is a crime against humanity and as Muslims, especially leaders of the community , should definitely speak out against it. As the Prophet mentioned when you see an evil you should stop it with your hands, speak out against it with your tongue or at least deny it in your heart as this is the weakest of Imaan. Especially when perperators seem to be some Muslims across the country- the Muslim community has been trying to hide this issue under the carpet.

So I am happy it has been highlighted in Jummah sermons nationwide as this affects us all as Muslims are perperators AND victims due to this sick action. Now that mosques have woken up, active Muslims and organisations should be active in mosques by offering their services. So other real issues like Islamophobia, tackling alcohol and drug abuse, sectarianism, political lobbying etc etc can be tackled by the mosques and Imams.

Today in most mosques the talented and right minded individuals stay away and just moan about mosques and Imams- now is the time to not just talk the talk, but also walk the walk.

About time? were they hiding this?

Generally you would put such a tone to an organisation that was hiding their crimes or were somehow linked to them.

An example would be the BBC and how its celebrities used their position to abuse children. But I don't think the BBC has been asked to speak out, nor AFAIK has it offered an apology.

In the case of the recent convictions etc, they were not linked to mosques. No mosques were used in the abuse. No mosques justified their actions.

So suggesting that its about time they faced the music seems quite wrong.

If you have a problem with the mosques how about making your own model mosque? That way you can show how to run them and give a positive example.

"Verily, in the remembrance of Allah, do hearts find rest"

speaking out against all evils especially when Muslims are some of the perperators is essential and duty of all Muslims- especially leaders and institutions....

more and more asian Muslims are getting involved in grooming and th ekhutba was the perfect platform to address this....

I have a tendency to make a funny face every time i see those faces.
