Mic Righteous

i don't personally listen to music anymore and haven't for some time. saying that every now and then i stumble across a piece of music that appeals to me because of the lyrics themselves.

i believe music is haram but i do sometimes listen to a certain song because of what the person is saying in their lyrics. do you think it makes me a hypocrite by doing this.

i always tell my friends to stop listening to music but then sometimes, once in a longtime i listen to it just once and enjoy what the person is saying.

i just wanted to share this video with you to help you understand what i mean. i just stumbled across this video on youtube and i liked what the guy is saying. he is a young british muslim rapper who has recently been getting some recognition.

i have never really liked UK rappers but there are some like this guy who put the UK in the ranks. i think this guy will make it big.

He's a good rapper, he will get himself a name & not for the wrong reasons. He's more genuine than most & just to point out.. this video is censored the BBC cut out the bit where he says "free palestine" in his first set of bars.

yeah but i think everyone knew what he said. the only thing that might stop him from being big is the same reason low key such rappers aren't so big.

the big record labels who want to sign them ask them to change themselves too much. They want to make the rappers more commercial, and i don't think these rappers will change their bars just for money.

it would be great if low key and mic righteous got together, don't you think? Smile

Lowkey & righteous Have already got together look it up it's an old track now though!

& Lowkey has got a hell of alot of support saying that he is an independant artist & he understands how that could have held him back yet he's still doing amazingly well for an independant artist. I've met him & He won't ever turn commercial. he is very strong in his beleifs I dont think he will need the industry to back him. & Neither will Mic.

I respect what people think about music, but me personally i listen to alot of music, music calms me down when im angry and cheers me up when im down, the lyrics in some tracks inspire me to write poems. so am i doing wrong??

although there maybe some benefits in music it's still haram and therefore wrong. music takes control of your heart like when your listening to something upbeat or maybe some slowjamz.

music has an effect on how you feel and only Allah should effect your heart. that's what i heard anyway. whatever reasons there are as far as i know music is prohibited.

that's why i asked if what i was doing when listening to these lyrics was haram or not. i wasn't concentrating on the beats i was just listening to his lyrics

however there are a lot of opinions on this issue, so just ask someone who is more knowledgeable instead of taking my word for it. just trying to look our for my brothers and sisters insha allah.

May Allah guide us all. Ameen

what ur saying makes sense. but i have to do this. where does it say that music is bad in the quran?

Christians say they've heard this or someone once upon a time told them this and that. really and truly the majority of religious folk dont quote their scriptures. gets on my nerves when people dont quote it, cause (no offence) you could be 'gassing'.
