ANOTHER thing that bugs me with the older generation is their stupid obsession with FOOD
i went to my grans house who happens to be a great cook-she did my HEAD in to eat 24/7
if I dont want to eat I dont want to eat
but they take their obsession with trying to get a person to eat to the extreme
they'd try to force feed me to eat and were ready to chase me round the house if I refused
i dont have an issue with food-I eat a BIG breakfast, lunch and dinner AND ice creams and chocs daily
BUT i cant eat any more then that-cos I'll start to put on weight
i argued with them, hid at munch time but they still wouldnt get the message-honestly they eat EVRY HOUR
then my nan grassed me up to my parents saying that "I'm a rude, girl who disrespects my elders and refuses to eat" and that "I should be more like my older sister, who eats whatever is in front of her"
she made me so angry
the ONLY reason why my sister dont refuse munch-even if she aint hungry and evn if she has already eaten is cos she DONT PUT WEIGHT ON THAT EASILY
yet if I eat take away for a week and pig out on chocs by the end of two weeks I can feel my stomach getting soft
and unlike all the sons and daughters in my nans family i can NOT afford to pay 40 quid a month membership in Fitness First
what is it with the older lot and their Food obsession:roll:
just compliment them and asy thanks but no thanks a lot, usually works. or if there very persistant, just take a little every now and then
i know wat u mean tho, one house in pakistan...the menu:
Starters (not a big fan) - Rice (cool) - Chicken (great, desserts next!) - Salan (dnt think i can eat much of this) - sweet dish (just a lil please...) - Ice Cream (not too bad i guess...full now) - but wait 4 it.....Mangoes! and you HAVE to have mangoes
and inbetween they offer you more and more

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.
Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.

they take it as an insult to their cooking

Reminds me of that HSBC ad about Japanese and finishing your plate...
nope not as easy as that
they feed u like a baby if u refuse
it was so funny when me, my uncle and my nan were going to someones house
my uncle says to my nan in the car
"Do NOT feed me in front of others-do NOT serve me in their house-I'm NOT a baby and can feed myself"
LOL-she still served him when we got there tho
