The Islamification of the UK: CNN

Here is a video from CNN telling us how the name Mohammad is the number 1 boys baby name in the UK (run to the hills everyone, Muslims are taking over!! - subtext)

Interesting video... but here are the ! Seems they have misplaced the name Mohammad by ooh, 15 places...

Sorry, couldn't be bothered to watch it, but nice to know!

They mention how variations of the name are in the top ten, but I can't see it in the list :S :

  1. Oliver (up one)
  2. Jack (down one)
  3. Harry (up one)
  4. Alfie (up two)
  5. Joshua (non-mover)
  6. Thomas (down three)
  7. Charlie (non-mover)
  8. William (up two)
  9. James (non-mover)
  10. Daniel (down two)

I don't see any variations of Mohammed/Muhammad in there... actually reading the pdf, it says "Mohammed was at number 16 nationally, but was the most popular boys’ name in the West Midlands." so that is really twisting things.

Another thing is of name concentration - Muslim kids are more likely to be cammed Muhammad than non Muslims are to be called Oliver/Jack/Harry etc.

I notice that Lily is number 9 on the list of names for women...

Would normally have tea but decided today to have cereal; frosties.

Too much sugar?

Cold or hot milk?

Do all Muslims respect the Ya Habibi Salem Aleyka as much as ...my kind(?)( I think Sunni-Shiatte Muslim)
I was dropping the twins off at the nursery and there was another Mother there, and she asked their names, and we;ve put Muhammed as their first names , and she was like "Who does he think he is? Everyone's named after him, nowadays!"
I was like "o...kay.She cleary is not saying that about Ya habibi Slaem Aleyka..."
And, I found out she was a Wahhab follower. Is that the correct attitude or am I right to be shocked?

I am shocked at that.

The full name of the person you are referring to is "Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab", so I didn't think even they would be annoyed.

Did you give the woman a slap? are you sure she was Muslim? what with the of Muhammad becoming the most popular name in the UK, maybe it was a non Muslim who was feeling that she was getting crowded out?

(I like how you are so polite when talking about the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) - it is not something I have come across much, but it is really good.)

I like sugar. So if I was having cornflakes, I would sprinkle sugar on top.

I like my milk to be not too hot or not too cold, but just abit warm.

No, she was Muslim. She was wearing hijaab, as well.
I didn't really say anything,I think my eyebrows did the talking.
I don't agree with her but she is entitled to her own opinion.

No she's not - morons shouldn't be entitled to opinions.

I don't think so. Frosties does.

first thing i thought: wait! i just read a yahoo thing about Oliver being the new name! (Whaaat?)
Also, mOhammad is 16th and mUhammad is 46 WHAT???! couldnt they like...put it together or something?

and Lilly with TWO L's is 45 (hey, top 5o eh?) apart from SOphia and Layla...mostly "western" names for girls, which is nice Smile

and for the boys its ONLY that Muhammad name...but LOADS of prophet's name.

I'm not sure how i feel about (if it was true) the fact that Muhammad was on top, it's England...it's their country...it just feels like... :S dunno...i feel a bit like that old man in the vid. BUT im not gona complain!!!

creates unecessary division..

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

What do you mean by that? England is no longer dominated by Christians (or practising Christians rather?) it's a multi-cultural/religious/ethnic country.

In politics today, we were talking about how when we see the House of Commons, its dominated by white, middle-class, private educated men and that doesn't even properly reflect the people of England! So how could they know what's best for society when they can't even relate to us?! (yh i know, I'm going off on one)

The most popular boy's name in Britain? It depends which paper you read

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

The problem is that the CNN video and other right wing news sources simply add up all of the variations of Mohammad and slap it at number one!

Now, if we take the name Jack, which is a variation of John. Throw in other variations of the same name (Ian, Iain, Jon, Sean, Shaun, Shawn, Shane etc - even Yaḥyā) and add those up together.. Then lets do the same with all known and popular Anglo Saxon/Christian names (William, Liam, Willem, Guillermo) and see where that puts the name Mohammad!

Something tells me it would be far from the number one spot!

So to add up all the names of Mohammad and not apply the same rule to all of the other variations of other names is sloppy journalism at best. Shame on CNN...

SInce you Shia's also proclaim to be the followers of the prophet (saw), why would the name Ali dislodge the name Muhammad from the list of most popular baby names?

I dislike the whiff your post gives off.

Respect the prophet (saw).

I think Ali might be a popular name in Europe.. What with Ali McBeal and stuff..

Tis a popular ladies name these days - no relation to shia-ism..

Atleast that is what they want you to think.

/gets a tin foil hat.

/realises that amplifies the signals.

i think the brits and the yanks already like the name Ali. loads of men and women are called Ali.

Ali as a name is nice, its short and its easy pronounceable.

Mohammad is too long. thats why some people shorten it to Mo; but Ali is already perfect. no need to shorten it further. i think soon Ali will taken over Mohammad.

well, the holy Prophet (pbuh) did leave the Ali incharge after him. so its destiny.

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".
