MP Stephen Timms stabbed 'in revenge for Iraq war'

A woman stabbed Labour MP Stephen Timms twice at a constituency surgery in revenge for his vote for the Iraq war, the Old Bailey has heard.

The Labour MP for East Ham said he thought Roshonara Choudhry wanted to shake hands when she smiled before lunging at him in Newham on 14 May.

Miss Choudhry told police she wanted "to get revenge for the people of Iraq", prosecutors said.

Well I guessed that this was the reason for the stabbing at the time, on this forum. The message from the Salafi community is clear is it not? (Let's face it she's a Salafi isn't she...)

If you're an MP and do something not to a Salafi's liking, one of them is likely to attempt to kill you.

And no please don't say it is one deranged individual because in doing that you are pulling the wool over your own eyes. The Salafi movement cultivates the twisted inhumane deranged paranoid delusional way of thinking that inevitably leads to these kind of actions.

Thumbs up to the Sufi's fighting against Salafism and reclaiming Islam from this pure evil.

No, if you support mass murder, some people may want to hurt you bad is the message I will take. I think that is common sense - there should be payback for tuese cowrdly MP's cowardly action.

I do think those tht voted for this war should be tried for war crimes and maybe bring back capital punishment as a special prize for them. Parliamentary priviledge should not protect them from the noose saddam stylee.

I bet the MP feels all righteous about it too.

Either way, what a waste of her life - she was only 21. I bet those encouraging her thought she was expendable...

I despise Labour MP's like Timms whose political career and success is due to his constituency having one of the largest Muslim votes in the country yet through his every vote during the Bliar years he sided with the Neo Cons against the interests of Muslims. She's been found guilty, only took the jury less than 20 minutes to deliberate and decide...well i guess twenty mins enough taking into account the motive.

Question is the one that London Muslim raised - were they actually willing to do anything about the views of Mr Timms by actively campaigning against him, providing the community with an alternative choice of MP that they could all get behind? Did they even vote against him?
