Chinese diners eat live fish in YouTube video

Animal rights campaigners have criticised the Chinese over their extreme eating habits after a video of diners eating a live fish became a hit on the internet.

The film, in which a part-fried fish is shown breathing and wriggling on a plate as it is being slowly eaten alive in a restaurant, has been posted on the video-sharing website .

In order to keep the carp alive chefs cook its body but wrap its head in a wet cloth to keep it breathing, before covering it in sauce and serving in on a plate.

The YouTube video shows diners, who are laughing and joking, prodding the fish while it is still moving, before picking it apart with chopsticks.

its japanese people not chinese!

I've seen this vid. Really disgusting.

i don't believe it, i think it's a set up, special effects you can do all sorts these days, how can it be fried on one half of the body yet full of life, it's not possible trust me i'm bengali we love our fish Biggrin

so if my head was wrapped cool and my body was fried i'd still be alive? i think id die from the shock of having my body fried.

I showed the video to my mum. She got me to turn it off before half way. (and I have no intention of watching it further).

If it isn't a hoax (which I first thought it wouldn't be), then it is cruel and unislamic too, as muslims are taught to make sure the kill is quick and not something where the pain is dragged on for ages for the animal.

I was thinking more along the lines of a new Japanese law and increased public awareness.

Yes. Only the body was fried.

The poor fish.

ok, taken this off the front page now.

For some reason when I first saw the title/subject - the question I was thinking was how it would be if a person was being "de-organed" while alive and kicking, without any anaesthetic.

I doubt people would be laughing there, as they are in the vid.

yh i showed it to my uncle and he said same that its not real just some sorta effects..he said if u fried the middle then the fish would be dead....

unless you took care to keep it alive... and it does not have to be cooked indian style - other places like their meat rawer. less cooking.

It is a question that is still being debated. some suggest they do. They mostly be scientists. Others suggest they don't. They mostly be anglers who like fishing for sport.
