When Muslim Leaders do us proud?

Comments

Where's MPAC and their like when a leader actually does speak out?

I would have thought them to promote the good while criticising the bad?

Or are they only after the publicity they would get from criticising others?

IMO criticising others is easy. I am doing it right now.

Erdogan blames world for not 'giving Hamas a chance'

Washington - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in an exclusive interview Saturday in the Washington Post, blamed the policy of isolating the radical Islamst movement Hamas as a reason for the ongoing tensions in the Gaza Strip. Erdogan, who was Thursday the centre of controversy at the World Economic Forum in Davos after an angry exchange with Israeli President Shimon Peres, argued for engaging Hamas in the Mideast process.

Asked about his relationship with Hamas, which refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist, Erdogan stressed that the movement's legitimacy should be recognized.

"First of all, Hamas is not an arm of Iran. Hamas entered the elections as a political party. If the whole world had given them the chance of becoming a political player, maybe they would not be in a situation like this after the elections that they won," he said.

Erdogan went on to charge that "the world has not respected the political will of the Palestinian people. (They say) on the one hand, we defend democracy and we try our best to keep democracy in the Middle East, but on the other hand we do not respect the outcome of ... the ballot box."...

Arabic press praises Erdogan

Three Turkish papers focused on the perceived inability of Erdogan to control his emotions and the damage that may have been done to Turkey's international standing. The latter theme was echoed in Israeli papers.

Arab papers asked why the Arab League chief remained on the stage with the Israeli president, and more broadly highlighted what they saw as Arab leaders' failure to do more for Palestinians over the recent Gaza conflict...
