Im Playing Cricket

For all those critics; the truth does begin in lies. Take me for example... i do all sorts of things that id rather not tell my parents about. For example if I goofed off from studying to go watch a movie and my parents asked me "where I did today?" Id simply answer with "Playing Cricket"... or "When they shout from the hall: "Seraph! What are you doing?" I answer with "Playing Cricket".

Now they aint stupid... they know I cant play cricket and they know Im NOT playing cricket. So to recap whenever I say Im playing cricket they know im not playing cricket and by saying it ive simply side-stepped the question of What I am doing (usually goofing off).
So they know im not telling the truth whenever i say that. And therefore truth does begin in lies.

For all those who still dont get what 'truth begins in lies' means; its basicly when someone exaggerates a story to sound better or more exciting.

Or as Obi-Wan said the truth is a matter of perspective or point of view.

Comments

All that means is that YOU lie.

If it is exaggerated it is an opinion, a story, not a truth.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Its the universal truth... everyone lies. And since im included in that... then yes.

But in this case no... your wrong. Its side-stepping the question, since they actually know im not playing cricket and they dont ask anything further ive effectively evaded the question.

A lie is a lie is a lie.

Not saying anything, ignoring the question, asking one of your own, starting a new topic - they are side stepping the question.

Calling it a universal truth does not change it from (IMO flawed) opinion to fact.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Repeating yourself doesn't make you're theory any better. Bcoz if it does im pretty sure I can out repeat you.

Side-stepping the question by answering with an irrelavant answer is by definition not lying. Lying actually involves answering the question... clarity its a wonderful thing.

Everybody lies... show me someone who doesn't lie and i'll show you a hypocrit.

ObiWan was wrong.

There is "The truth" which is black and white. People confuse that with a persons truth, which is another way of saying strong opinion.

Anyway, as it is you who has slurred humanity, the onus is on you to prove its guilt, not on me to prove its innocence.

Nothing worse than a monster who thinks he's right with God.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Hey man, dont blame Obi-Wan. He kicked Anakins chosen-ones a$$.

Dude, this is a blog not a court. I dont have to prove anything. People can like it or lump it but in the end... everyone lies and you KNOW IT!

Whether from clay or from metal, it is in the nature of us to make our own monsters.

The truth does not begin in lies.

If we look at the following conversation that might have taken place at 7:30pm yesterday:

Quote:
Seraph's Mum: Seraph what are you doing? You haven't changed your underwear for 8 weeks!
Seraph: I'm playing cricket.
Seraph's Mum: Damn kid! I know he's lying and if I point it out, he'll just say it was a playfull untruth. I guess I should go decide if 'untruth' is a defacto lie. Okay Seraph, dinner will be ready soon. You may have won the battle boy, but not the war...

Later on that evening, this probably didn't happen:

Quote:
Seraph's Mum: What is Truth?
Seraph's Dad: Perhaps you're looking at this too broadly. The original problem was with lying so which is limited to speech. So why don't you look at Truthful speech?
Seraph's Mum: That's a great idea. Your days are numbered Seraph...Seraph's Dad: Okay quickly, dialectic reasoning. The Truth is within! She's not going to pour the food in until she can crack this conundrum. Your days are numbered Seraph...Seraph's Mum: Well, if truthful speech is that speech which accurately depicts reality, then untruthful speech is that speech which does not accurately depict reality.
Seraph's Dad: And lying is when speech is uttered that falsely depicts reality as a person understands it. So it is not just an inaccurate dipiction, but a depiction where some detail is different from or opposite to the reality as the speaker see's it. Further that false detail is uttered with the speaker being fully aware that the false detail is false!
Seraph's Mum: So untrue speech is not defacto lying, but every lie is untrue speech. And the difference between the two is that it is untrue according to the speaker's view of reality, untrue with innaccuracy being a detail contrary contrary to the speeker's view of reality and untrue with the speeker's knowledge that it is untrue!
Seraph's Dad: Darling, you've done it again! Let us celebrate with dinner!
Seraph's Mum: One moment I need to speak to Seraph.
Seraph's Dad: Damn kid, I always prefered his brother.

I suppose this showdown didn't follow:

Quote:
Seraph: I know you're there mother.
Seraph's Mother: Impressive, now release your anger. You must have sensed your friends were in danger!
Seraph: Mum! Why are you singing the starwars gangster rap?
Seraph's Mum: I like the 'we got a deathstar' dance. Anyway I came to see what you were doing.
Seraph: I told you. Playing Cri-
Seraph's Mum: Seraph, you are not playing cricket.
Seraph: Quickly think of something smart to say!!! Quickly, what would Obi Wan do?
Seraph's Mum: PUT THAT LIGHTSABER DOWN!
Seraph: Sorry. Okay ObiWan can't help me now...what would House do? Of course I'm not playing cricket.
Seraph's Mum: Right, so apart from walking around with a pretend limp, what are you doing.
Seraph: You're missing the point. This isn't about what I'm doing, it's about what I'm not doing. We've all been so caught up in what little Seraph is doing that we've missed something that he and 6 billion other humans should be doing.
Seraph's Mum: Which is?
Seraph: No! I can't think of anything! What the hell am I supposed to say...Come on think House. What cerebral dynamite powers House's Mind?
Seraph's Mum: PUT THE VICODIN DOWN! and just where the hell did you get opiates from? What else are you taking Seraph?
Seraph: The truth is Mum, I'm not playing cricket. I just said that so I wouldn't have to tell the truth.
Seraph's Mum: And it worked pretty well for a while but let's go back to that 'so I didn't have to tell the truth' bit .
Seraph: Well I knew I was saying something that wasn't true.
Seraph's Mum: Did you also know you were saying something that was contrary to reality?
Seraph: Well yeah... It was a joke.
Seraph's Mum: So by your own admission; you spoke speech that was not accurately depicting your view of reality, the innaccuracy was contrary to reality and you knew it!
Seraph: Yep.
Seraph's Mum: That means that you told a lie.
Seraph: I am defeated... Great.
Seraph's Mum: Now let's eat!
Seraph's Dad: Great!

Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.

Through cheating, stealing, and lying, one may get required results but finally one becomes

lol bravo Dawud... that was genius pure utter genius. My parents dont talk like that but it would be hilarious if they did.

The problem is they've never stopped to consider what I was hiding. Since the phrase "Im playing Cricket" is just a joke. Like this morning when I was on the loo, and my mom knocks on the door coz she wants to go too. She asks "What are you doing in there?" to which I replied: "Playing Circket"... obviously im not playing cricket, but she stops right there and doesnt ask anything further.

As for my dad, he'd never hold a conversation that was that long. He prefers to keep it short. But thanx for paying attention to my family.

It's ok Seraph, everyone has a pet name for it; yours is 'playing cricket', for others its going to their 'happy place'.

I'm sure you'll grow out of it.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

LMAO!

That can be interpretated in oh so many ways.

None so flattering.

You guys are sick!

Weirdoo... Pardon

If you desire Allah to be persistent in granting you the things you love,, be persistent in doing the things that he loves - (Imaam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal)

"Everybody lies... show me someone who doesn't lie and i'll show you a hypocrite."

That's REALLY smart!

Wish i'd thought of it...
