It’s hard to find peace within. You may think that you find it there, waiting for you. Others have to search, fight tooth and nail to find their peace. Why am I talking about this, you may ask?
Well to be honest, I think we measure peace in a different way than which it should be measured. True tranquillity is literally only possible through Deen and understanding the Deen, but we receive tranquillity and forms of peace in small doses everyday really. We just don’t know about it or appreciate it until it’s gone.
I think we’re selfish like that. Humans. Always looking for the easy option, always thinking about new ways to make our ego’s happy. We get so wrapped up in our electronic lives, become so engrossed in our work and education that we forget the simplest things that act as aspirin for us on hard days. Simple things, like our Mother’s smile, laughter and fresh air. These are all Allah’s blessings that provide a coolness to our polluted minds, it’s a small dose of tranquillity to keep you going. Because when you think about it, everything in the dunya is a test. Whether we like it or not, we’re always surrounded by tests, small ones, miniature packages of frustration .But when the large one erupts, hidden behind fake smiles and false meanings, your world feels like it’s crumbling down. But these small blessings of Allah are Sakeena. Peace and tranquillity.

Native Deen’s lyrics swirl into my thoughts every time I think about a test (‘It’s a test! It’s a test!’) Truth is, no matter how much you try to prepare yourself for Allah Almighty’s test, nothing other than sabr can help. The world carries on like normal, and in the aftermath of it all, you just sit down and ponder on Allah favours. Which of Allah’s favours can we deny?
