The Diamond Jubilee Weekend!

So the whole country is hyped up about the Queens Diamond Jubilee, yet some of us are simply sitting at home, doing absolutely nothing (like me!) Have you done anything patriotic towards the country you live in? Have you held a street celebration party with family and friends? Have you let a flag fly out your window with the permission of your mum? Have you joined a parade and sang the national anthem? Have you done anything at all? Theres even a mosque in Manchester that was covered in decorative lighting and flags, with a large banner congratulating the Queen! They're also giving a tour of the mosque, can you believe that? I just can't! Well if there's anything at all that you did, feel free to share it here!

My childrens school sent invites to all the kids to a street party on Friday June the first.

The invite read "We would like to invite you to our street party which will be at 12.00"

I was thinking I'd love to go to that, but I couldn't as I was working.

The school has all the parents mobile numbers in case of emergencies.

At about 11.45 I received a text message from the school saying "We are sorry for the confusion that the invites may have caused. The invitations were from the school to the children and not to the parent."

As it turns out a lot of the parents that DID turn up in red white and blue outfits all patriotised (if that's even a word - but you know what I mean) and were turned away as there wouldn't have been enough food for all the parents.

Then I was GLAD that I was at work, I could have been one of them, I do have a untion jack top hat and suit that I would have gone in.

That was an avoided akward moment. Pheeewwwww......

i dont get the jubilee.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Its the celebration of the Queen's 60th year of ruling, though in my opinion, i don't actually know what she does on a day to day basis, besides knitting and eating with a silver spoon. The last one we had was Queen Victoria's, so thats why it's seen as a big thing!

Anything for a holiday.

The queen has conducted herself quite well for 60 years - a lot better than many others in the public eye.

Got no beef with a sleep in.

the queen has been ruling for to long ,my opinion is that she should let someone else rule now

You've got to wait until she dies!

She's doing a fine job ina  role which doesnt require providing real legislation - its ceremonial and I dont see the need to change the system.

Its not like she has disgraced herself or anything.

60 years is a long time to do something well in the public eye.

You have stupidly low standards. Its not a given that people should disgrace themselves you know.

I don't really have much of an opinion about the queen, except that the royal family bring in revenue and the jubilee is just an excuse to have a good time, bring everyone together and have a nice cheerful atmosphere in the rain.

BANK HOLIDAY!!!

I have a blue, white, and red hijab -that's not quite the union jack- but still patriotic.

But I stayed in all day.

Death is the end of time. Not the end of Life.
